I wonder if this is the year Lemonier doesn't make the team?

Quality point. Chip is doing all the hiring himself though according to Baalke. But yeah, it does seem backwards.

Why? We had an WR, RB & QB coach before we had an offensive coordinator.

That's different. Kelly IS the OC so for him, it was more about finding the right pieces to fit his ideal.

DC? The DC is going to essentially manage his own staff/team and that side of the ball.

Harbaugh brought in Jim Leavitt as LB coach. So it happens.

The entire staff is very underwhelming.

Do you like anything about this team?

You'll have to go to the Seahawks thread for that answer. Kidding sus...

Nickerson will probably coach only ILB not OLB.

Along with Fangio.

Typically the DC wants his own staff just like Fangio when he left here. Why wouldn't he?

Hiring or already having 3 of his staff locked up may be a sign we'll be getting less of an established DC. It will most likely be a first-timer or lacking as a proven commodity.

That doesn't mean it won't work though.

Yes he brought in Fangio. But Leavitt was a JH guy so Fangio did not get to pick his LB coach. That seemed to work out okay. Also the only coach Fangio brought with him to Chicago was Ed Donatell and not surprisingly the 49ers have yet to hire a DB coach.

And he probably only signed here to be close to family, right?

He was a helluva linebacker in his day. Glad he is here working with Bow.
The notion that a new defensive coordinator is going to need to hire all his own staff is a false one. When companies hire managers or team leads they don't give them the authority to fire everybody and rehire a new bunch. Same story here. The issues affecting potential defensive coordinators in SF are a lack of talent, working for chip Kelly the man, and the impact of his offense on the defense.

Quality points by both of you.

But with Fangio, his whole defense is predicated on his pattern matching therefore, he brought HIS guy with them.

In this case, we have secured the front 7 coaches. So the DC, since Tim Lewis was let go, will most likely want his own DB coach at least.

This may be a hint into a package hire...DC and Secondary coach.

Any guesses?
If somebody is on the bubble as to making the team, Chip has shown that if he doesn't want somebody he gets rid of them and fast. So if lemon doesn't look like the player chip wants, he will get the boot a lot sooner than if tomsula were HC.

The black uniforms. Lol

Nah just saying the staff on paper looks pretty underwhelming but I think you can do that with song strong HC. We'll see how it works out, I'm hopeful chip can turn it around.

Its not about name value. Harbaugh brought a Stanford staff that nobody knew, and we had incredible success. Pat Flaherty was Tom Coughlin's OL coach in NY for all 12 years.

Ill trust Chip's football IQ over the fans'...
Out of chip Kelly's hire so far, who has been the most disappointing hire?
