I don't know if I would say soft, but I have noticed for a long time... Every time our 49ers face a very physical team, they tend to buckle. That has been the case for years, not just this past season.

That's because Tomsula was the Anti-Harbaugh. One and a half hour practices. Social media breaks. Veterans not practicing. All of this showed during the season. The team was super soft.

I think Tomsula did everything Baalke ordered in terms of practice and training camp. The players may have been burned out from 4 years of Harbaugh and Baalke advised to let up on the reins

Maybe some of the young players who are real impressionable and the one's who lack drive played soft. Others such as Boldin, Patton, Bowman, Reid seemed to fight tooth and nail to get wins especially Patton.

There is no doubt the team played soft, they didn't want to hit or tackle down the stretch.
Which is totally understandable, the season was over in October.
