I find this situation fascinating. York goes cheap on coaching to save on dollars. The coaching he hires is so terrible nobody shows up to the games. Less merchandise and concessions are purchased. Parking lots vacant. York still makes money, but not as much if the 49ers were competitive or in a playoff hunt with a packed stadium.
So that leaves us to speculate. If York had kept Harbaugh and Co, or hired Gase and Fangio, would attendance be better?
Looks like you could easily seat another 30k people in those Bengals/49ers pics. That's a s**t ton of revenue leaking from pockets.
What is your guess on how much revenue is lost per game by an empty stadium?
Lets say 30K didn't attend that day.Just the money lost on parking alone has to be huge. So lets say half took public transit. Then 3 to a car, so 5,000 cars at what, average $30? Someone is out $150K per game. Figure the cost of a hot dog and two beers for every seat, ( I know some more some less, some soda only but just to throw out a number). Hot dogs cost has been lower to what 6.25? Beer $10. So $26 x 30K is another $780K revenue loss for the stadium. and say every 1 out of 4 fans would have bought a $20 souvenir....$140K., So stadium sales and parking are down a cool $1M that day.? What do you think the team gets out of that? The city loses out on a a nice chunk of change on the lost sales tax revenue right? the vendors take a huge hit. Not much out of Yorks pocket though, considering.
