Look at the nod he runs on that SB23 game winner

Walsh trusted him enough to make Rice a decoy on that play to move the FS out of the middle.

His only catch of the game. If he had actually produced in the game it would've been a blowout.

Yeah, but Walsh, what did he know? Totally overrated by 49ers fans.

Walsh was no dummy, he knew what he had in what was at that point a little used WR. Taylor because the number 2 when Holmgren took over play calling.

He used this clutch play as a spring board for his '89 season. He had 60+ catches 1000 yards and 10 tds that year. What a player.

Actually, Roger Craig screwed up on the play. The ball was never supposed to go to Taylor. And Taylor had been on the team for 3 years and couldn't even take the #2 job away from Mike Wilson. They even signed a washed up Wes Chandler to be the #2 before the 1988 season, but he had nothing left.

With Rice drawing constant triple teams on the other side, that's the bare minimum you'd expect. Plus he had like a third of that total in that one game against the Rams (both of those long touchdowns would not have been possible without Rice) and was invisible the rest of the year.

I believe that you are trolling. At least part of this is made up, and I don't see what the comment about Craig screwing up has to do with JT. But here is an extract from the wiki page on Mike Wilson:

On August 27, 1981, he signed as a free agent with the San Francisco 49ers, where he earned the team's third wide receiver role behind Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon. He also registered 12 special teams tackles, on a season when the franchise won its first Super Bowl. On September 9, 1982, he was placed on the injured reserve list.[3]

In the 1983 NFC championship game, he had one of his best performances after replacing an injured Clark and finishing with 8 receptions for 57 yards and 2 touchdowns in a losing effort.

He became a starter in 1988 after Clark retired, but the next year he was passed over by John Taylor who would remain the starter playing alongside Jerry Rice. His combination of size and strength was not common at the time for a wide receiver, so he was also used as a tight end in selective passing situations.[4]

Wilson retired in 1991, after the team did not offer him a contract.[5] He helped the 49ers win 4 Super Bowls, 4 NFC Championships and qualify for the NFL post-season in 9 out of his 10 seasons."

So, you need to start to produce some links or other proof.

It actually looks like they messed up the back alignment....Roger ran the right Texas route it was just on the wrong side.

Wilson got hurt in late 1988, missed the Chargers game, and Taylor filled in. That was how he finally got the starting job.

How he got the starting job really doesn't matter, He didn't lose it, did he? Injuries have caused many good players to get their break.

If you wanna troll at least know what you're talking about.

Now you look like a dick for trolling, and a dumb ass for not knowing what you're talking about...lol

60 catches for a #2 in our WCO was a big number. With Walsh it was usually HB/FB as number catcher, Flanker, TE then secondary WR. It started to change with Holmgren in '89 when it was flanker, FB/HB, #2 and TE. Taylor had 3 100 yard games in '89, that's hardly being invisible for the rest of the year.

You are trying way too hard on this.

Uh, I was correct. Craig screwed up on the play. Pass was never supposed to go to Taylor. Taylor himself has said this.
