RB1: Carlos Hyde; Shaun Draughn
RB2: Mike Davis; DuJuan Harris
I'd consider keeping Ponder but neither Kaepernick nor Gabbert are veteran bridge QB's. Kelly is proving he can get some success out of any QB he coaches whether it's Vick/Foles/Sanchez/Bradford/Gabbert/Kaepernick. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he got success out of a rookie QB to start in 2017. Hyde and Harris are keepers. Draughn and Davis are out. Need another bruiser for Hyde.
MTE: Garrett Celek; Je'Ron Hamm (Vance McDonald)
TE: Blake Bell
McDonald proved he could be successful within Kelly's system as a complete TE. Celek is still a good blocker also signed LT and a RZ threat but has had some concentration issues this year. It's time to review Hamm and Bell more. I'd like to see a Martellus Bennett brought in to pair with McDonald.
X WR (LEFT): Quinton Patton; Rod Streater (Eric Rogers)
Y WR (SLOT): Jeremy Kerley; Aaron Burbridge (Bruce Ellington)
Z WR (RIGHT): Torrey Smith; Chris Harper
Kerley is a a must-sign and a 3rd down machine for us. He'd be pushing 800 yards with an accurate QB. IF Ellington ever gets healthy, we're increedibly deep at the slot (YWR). Burbridge needs more development there but is already a great ST player. After that, there's a lot of "meh" and ?-marks and underutilization, to say the least. This year has to be a priority year to get a true big-bodied ZWR in FA and a X WR in the draft to push Torrey. Obviously, a real QB would help everyone here.
LOT: Zane Beadles; (Joe Staley)
LG: Andrew Tiller
C: Marcus Martin; Alex Balducci & Josh Allen (Daniel Kilgore)
RG: Joshua Garnett
ROT: Trenton Brown; John Theus
God bless the OL. Anytime you start Kaepernick over Gabbert, your sack numbers are going to more than double, but all year, save for a game here and there, they have clearly provided enough time to operate within the intermediate passing game (3.5-4 seconds). And until last game, they've been very healthy. Right now, it's a mix of zone and power personnel mixed together and some of it is backwards but kudos to the line who has us on pace to put up a 1,000-1,200 yard RB on mostly inside predictable runs and on pace for 2,700 yards overall (Kaepernick is on pace for 900 yards by himself). The bottom line is, the lanes have to be there and they have been for the most part and this line is far superior to anything we've seen in the past few years...and it's young WITH upside...it has depth too. Kelly/Modkins need to have a real talk about going power or making the full commitment to zone. Whether power or zone or a mix, he's got some parts to keep in Staley, Brown, Garnett, Tiller, Kilgore & Beadles (depth). We know Martin is done and who knows about Balducci and Theus? If we go power: Staley - Garnett - ? - Tiller - Brown. We'd need a more powerful C at the POA. If we go zone: Staley - Garnett - Kilgore - ? - ?
