How?, his issue was catching the ball and nothing else.
If he corrects that..then he's a really good TE
Vance Mcdonald career numbers: 23 catches, 278 yards, 1 TD. Of this, 65 yards and his lone TD came last week against the Seahawks. There's nothing to indicate that his problems are limited to catching the ball. He just flat out isn't good.
Lol, so you just post his numbers..and want to make a judgement call ?
How about look at all the passes he dropped in games, add that yardage.
guy gets open...Just can't hold on to the ball. And wh n he does get the ball he can turn it up field quickly

If this is your argument, why don't you do the math? Go and support YOUR point.

I fully agree with this. The pass rush argument is bogus and an excuse. We could use a true #1 cb. Not gonna find those in round 5 through udfa. Baalke would rather have a million 1st and 2nd round safeties
It is not bogus. No cornerback can cover somebody forever and if a quarterback has all day to sit in the pocket and scan the field, then hes going to have receivers completely open. It is just a simple fact of the game.
Think back to a couple years ago when the Carolina defense suddenly became one of the leagues best in 2013. They had the league's best pass rush that year and led the league in sacks, but their secondary was back filled with cheap bargain bin free agents during free agency because that's when they were up against the cap but looking at their number 2 ranked defense that year you would have never known it. A great pass rush makes all the difference.

When you have a terrible coaching staff it is very hard to figure out who we should pin our hopes to in the future. ManSula have so many guys playing away from their strengths, we really have no idea how good a lot of these young guys are.

Players who could/will remain big contributors in the future
QB: Draft Pick
RB: Hyde
WR: Patton looks pretty good, I wouldn't call him a big contributor though
TE: Celek, draft a number one
OL: Draft
DL: Armstead looks good, Dial maybe,
LB: Lynch, I'd like to see more of Harold
Secondary: Cromartie, Johnson, Tartt, Reid (even though he's looked worse)
Honestly the amount of young talent is not really that staggering given how young we are. I don't hink we should kid ourselves, this is gonna be a big rebuild.

On the offensive side, Staley for sure. Too early to tell about Gabbert (although I'm hopeful). Some tight ends and receivers may have better chemistry with Gabbert than they did Kap (and visa versa), but I'd be inclined to for sure keep T. Smith. I'm concerned about Hyde staying healthy but if healthy, he's definitely a keeper. I think Miller is definitely a keeper. If Anthony Davis does return and plays as well or better than he did season before last, then he for sure would be a keeper. I'd like to see how Kilgore plays after his injury, but there's a good chance he would be a keeper. I'm not sure about Boone, but he probably won't be back next year anyway.
On the defensive side, other than Bowman, I think Lynch and Dial are definitely keepers. Baalke (if he's still here) should spend money on the best free agent pass rusher he can get. I think Armistead has shown enough potential to be a keeper. I'm not sure what to think about any of the guys in the secondary. I sort of suspect that part of their problem is Mangini's defensive schemes are sometimes pretty good and too often not very good. And I wonder how much of the lack of good tackling by the secondary has to do with coaching.

Players? Probably the least of our problems..
More effective question: what coaches, managers and organization officials do you want to hold on to? Are there any?
