He took a massive hit and bounced back. Getting hit was "supposed" to be his weakness, but not today. Kid wants to play. We need a player like that.

Swing passes were thrown to WRs/RBs in stride.
Advantage: Gabbert

Gabbert has the higher ceiling. Only thing Kap has on Blaine is straight line speed.
Gabbert just faced a defensive system similar to SEA since Qinn was their defensive coordinator last year. He did exactly what needs to be done vs a cover 3 and that's throwing to RBs and TEs. Back shoulders were the perfect passes against the cover 3.

If you can throw a perfect 15 yard pass to a WR that allows them to pick up another 10-20 yards, to me thats a huge improvement over playing chuck and duck and hitting the occasional 35 yarder.

Gabbert was on time, accurate (aside from the INT), and confident. Really, as a baseline you need all of that. Will he raise his game further? Yet to be seen. But I like the foundation he established in this game.
He's the best option right now. And the offense was generally entertaining to watch!

with no run game and the s**ttiest receiver performance in a long time, Gabbs still looked impressive. dude was poised, made good decisions, ran when he had to move the chains and looked fired up out there and his teammates fed off of his energy. Kap was always a great athlete but the dude got figured out and exposed. he doesnt go through his progressions, he looked scared and he had no fire this year. Gabbert may not be the long term answer (although he could be, hes only 26!) but hes definitely a better option than Kap right now and can mentor a rookie qb to sit behind him and push him til we trade one of them if they both look good. we'll see what he does against seattle but considering the circumstances he was faced with today he looked awesome

You do know they were playing against SEA defensive coordinator last year. That's pretty much what that type of defense gives up.
Notice the passes to the WR's were back shoulders and posts. That's also what works vs a cover 3 or SEA defense.

He was throwing perfect passes all day. The only bad pass was the underthrown pick. I'd even go so far as to say the ball thrown behind Smith was "bad." Other than that, they were all tight, clean passes giving his WR the chance to make a play on the ball. He was money on the run, he found open receivers, was decisive, broke tackles, extended plays, ran for first downs... He looked damn good, and if the receivers didn't drop so many passes, the stats would have shown it.

Didn't miss wide open receivers.
Better pocket presence.
Quicker, kaep is faster in a straight line, but gabby is better at evading pass rushers in the pocket.
Fearless. Took a huge hit and bounced back. Wasn't rattled.
No hesitation.
Better accuracy.
He really only had one big mistake in this game, versus kaeps countless mistakes in every game. Is gab the next Montana? Hell no. Does he deserve the starting job? Hell yes!

Atlanta looked pretty bad on defense and seems to be in a bit of a slump the last couple of games. I personally believe Kaep would've won the game for us as well. Anyone else think the same thing?

"A little piece of Kaepernick dies every time Gabbert completes a pass."

Just checked and realized that Gabbert is signed through 2016. That would be great if he can keep it up. Then, can start in that 2016 season as we develop a rd 1-2 rookie QB behind him as plan B. So much cheaper than Kaep. That money can go to upgrading the OL.
