Sounds stupid so forgive me.. so a quick google said there are 6 captains on the team what are their roles/what are thet meant to do?... im asking due to two torrey smith incidents few weeks back he was going off on side lines (which he later apologies for , dont know why, think its good to see some frustration/ heart) and then last week he was wide open and he kap didnt see him waving his arms then he jumped up and down , to me thought he should go over to him and tell him to wake up and open yours of eyes... do the leaders/veterans do that??
Team captain just means team leader. No special role or duty.

Vets will talk stuff over with players. Even a rookie that was wide open should go discuss the play with the QB.
Oh ok thanks
They go to middle of field before game and shake hands with opponAnt captains and participate in the coin toss.

They get to wear a "C" patch for captain on their jersey also.

Its symbolic. Just a badge of honor that your teammates and coaches apoint.

In hockey it actually means you are the only ones who get to communicate your teams frustrations or misunderstandings with the refs on the ice.

No, Kaepernick is still technically a captain. They dont change team captains during the season.

The whole "team captain" thing was just between the players until a few years back, when the NFL decided to have team captains wear a "C" patch on their jerseys. The 49ers havent worn the patches since 2010.
Don't let these guys mess with you. Being a captain is a huge honor. At the end of the season all the team captains around the league get together in tampa, board the pirate ship at the stadium, are each given parrots, eye patches and sword fight to see who is king of the captains.

Winner gets a wench and all the rum.

In this insular, hierachical, self-referencial football culture, that sounds plausible.
