I just have to keep telling myself that I am truly only rooting for a helmet that I am familiar with, everything else is a facade! Stadium, owners, uniforms, everything is different! This is really an expansion team that kept the old Glory Days helmets. They trick us with a museum, and by inviting old school Niners players to the stadium every week.Candlestick didn't need a museum to connect us with our roots! This is not the organization that won 5 Super Bowl Trophies, this is not the San Francisco 49ers that was lead by the great Bill Walsh and Eddie Debartolo. That organization doesn't exist anymore, this is the Santa Clara Yorks!
With that said, why do I have the same expectations for this team? Bill Walsh isn't coming to save the day via his on field or drafting brilliance. Maybe we should just watch the games while focusing on our shiny new Stadium? Or we can take pride in the glory of almost accomplishing a super bowl trophy a few years ago.

Why do we watch this new team as though it is our old Candle Stick dwelling San Francisco

The team hasn't been the same since Mooch went packing. Then Garcia leaves ending the long chain of Pro Bowl and even 3 Hall of Fame QBs going all the way back to Y.A. Tittle. Haven't had a decent passing game since. Harbaugh made the team a contender again after 8 years of stinking but it was on the back of the defense and running game. The 49er tradition died a pretty quick death after the Yorks took over.

Can I merge this into the "I hate this team' thread, or no? OP, your thoughts?

You can, but I don't hate this team.
I think we are like an expansion team, only we kept the old Niner helmets. That is a little different than "I hate this team", I love the team I just cannot stand the ownership. So if you have a "I hate these owners & front office" thread to merge it to I could see your reasoning, otherwise I think it's a stand alone topic.

Good grief. This thread continues to confirm what others love to say about 49ers fans. You guys CAN NOT let go of the past. Pathetic!

Coach was released with no plan in place. Fans get the impression the Yorks now have the pot of gold, with the new stadium and Sucka licenses, and that is their definition of winning.

I do to have to agree. Alot of quality team around the NFL seems to say they got there passing attacks from us, Yet we seem the be the only one not using it. I personally dont dislike the Yorks, I actually have alot of patience with them it seems like. But just dont lie to me.
