Doesn't matter who you bring in when the owner is the problem.

Yeah I don't think Jed gained too much respect around the league with his crying last year.

Eddie has to get approved to come back to the league as an owner. And the only reason why people wanted to "work for Eddie" was because he treated the team to the "extras" something you can't do in the Salary Cap era anymore. Eddie treated his players like family and the NFL just isn't that kind of place anymore. I don't see Eddie having more success than Kraft or anyone else who hired a really good coach, who then got lucky with a really good QB. The 49ers of the 80's and pre-1994 would not exist past one season under today's salary cap. If it's a question of staff, Harbaugh had one of the largest staffs in the entire NFL. This wasn't a money issue. Again I fail to see how the ownership (Denise) is the problem. It's not that people don't want to come to work for the 49ers, IMHO, the problem with this team is that it drafted a limited QB and have made a back-up a starter. I'm not saying we should not have let Alex go, but QBs in a passing league need to be able to throw on time and read defenses.
Really good coaches are hard to get. Should prob not fire one if you find em.

Jed is the CEO, Paraag is President. No football guy until you get to GM Baalke...who never coached.
Seeing a problem and solving are not the same thing. Any football guy will want power over Baalke. If it's a retread...he would likely want to blow up the whole shebang.

Oh come on...Roman had a terrible offense that was stinking up the place! I haven't seen that terrible of a job by a 49er offense since....last week.

Not to state the obvious, Itrain, but the guy we (esp me) all thot was the problem on O...we were wrong. Every damn thing went thru harbaw. Roman goes elswhere and suddenly he is a very capable OC. Which means the guy to point the finger at is the same guy we correctly fired...ok, parted with amicably. HE was the problem, not roman.

Polian doesn't really excite me.
Then who is your guy? These are just names, the concept is solid, Jed need a "football operations" guy to come in and help him find a nw Coaching staff, and GM. A total flush of every coach, and front office personnel who had a hand in this seasons debacle, a clean cut from the recent past.
I have heard the name Steve Young, but I don't know if he has the skills, or if he would give up his job in front of the cameras. Out of this guys list I would prefer Holmgren, he as a direct link to the Bill Walsh era.I think finding a transition team, built around the Walsh coaching tree would be great, reach way back to the glory years, and an aggressive offensive style.
Stop living in the past, its something every niner fan needs to do, I mean this in term of guys who were part of this franchise 20-30 years ago. just because they helped us win in the 80's and 90's does not mean they can be effective effective heads of football ops in 2015 and beyond. They need to find something who is 1) in the game or has been in the game recently, 2) has a good track record being a front office member.
Holmgren has never been a very good front office official. His last draft had him picking trent richardson and brandon weeden.

Shouldn't you not want your head coach to be a great recruiter of coaches?

Bring Charlie Casserly out of retirement, or someone well respected around the league for turning damaged goods into a quality product ......we need a solid football mind "picking the groceries" ...bring in a team of advisors to help search for a solid coach, Jed and the yorks need to stay the hell out of the way, sign the checks, and let the people who know what the hell their doing make the football decisions , obviously Jed isn't qualified to search for a coach, they said they wanted a "teacher" to be the head coach, Tomsula is far from being a teacher, a custodian maybe, but not a teacher

Just curious - why does a GM need coaching experience. Most GMs in the NFL are former scouts and few are players. Just thoughts.
Not necessarily, but I believe most teams have former coaches in some exec positions. The niners have Jed and Paraag...bright guys, but how do they help or evaluate the football side? Trent is it...and they will likely lay this season on him...unless the team turns around...then they will magically become visible again.

for Harbaugh supposedly having a huge ego he was always quick to point out the necessity for strong assistant coaches. And always praised his coaches in press conferences. Dude knows it takes more than just a HC to lead a team
