Why is it there are people right here that understand personnel decisions better than our own management.

We let players like Iupati and Davis walk and retire and don't seem to make moves to maintain that level of play and instead sign FAs that are well documented less talented.

We let a proven Successful HC walk and push him out the door and replace him and his staff with very questionable replacements with either no track record or worse, failed track records.

We draft players that have little to no immediate impact over players that make Ian impact for their teams.

We lose a HOF middle linebacker and his replacement and then pin our hopes on a star LB coming off serious injury.

Players that seem to be able to help are never given a chance to contribute.

Why doesn't this franchise from ownership, to GM to coaching staff, never make the seemingly most obvious decisions that for the most part prove to be what they should have done?
Because nobody is actually that stupid and the NFL is obviously rigged.

Okay but seriously, I think they thought they could pull a rabbit out of a hat with all these moves and look like geniuses. They didn't like Harbaugh from a personal perspective and felt he was getting to much credit, so they decided to part with him and try to prove that the success is a product of Jed York's ownership and Trent Baalke's ability to find diamonds in the ruff that don't have much initial attention. It worked for one week but since then it simply hasn't been panning out.

never thought about it in that sense. Could that be true? Is there any other successful coach that has gone through this type of success and get the boot?

How exactly do you "let a guy retire?"

Hmm do you really think half the guys that retired couldn't have been persuaded to hang on for one more year to try to reach a Super Bowl? Gee I see real GMs do it all the time. Can you say Tony Gonzales just to throw out a name?

How do you persuade guys like Willis and Justin Smith who medically were falling apart or Borland who was simply done due to his fear of concussions. This fable that somehow all these guys would have stuck around is nonsense IMO.

iupati is over rated and cards over paid, davis quit the FO cant control that. Imho they thought that from kilgore, martin and thomas (acl team) there would have enough competition to solidy at least the C and RG pos and many around here would have agreed. Didn't turn out that way.

I miss fangio and the D staff more than harbs n co. I honestly believe we would be looking at the same run run pass crap with him at the helm. When the o line is trash everthing will follow.

Mixed bag with the young players but at least now they get a chance to play.

Once again the FO cant control the retirement plans of players and they only have so many picks to fill holes. This is a rebuild.

Justin already did that LAST year when he didn't retire after the 2013 season.

We let Iupati walk because he was one of the worst pass blockers in football, yet was going to cost big money. Hes a power run blocker, and we were switching to a zone blocking scheme to fit Hyde. Hes also hurt a lot (like right now).

Teams have reasons for doing things. Just because they dont make sense to you doesnt mean they were the wrong move.

I understand what you guys mean when you say that it's not the ownerships and GMs fault that guys retired and also left via FA but how come Baalke didn't go out and get the needed help, instead of picking up guys that everyone KNOWS that they are not good players?

They always do this. Craig Dahl is a prime example. The guy was garbage long before he came to SF yet Baalke decides to go out and sign him. That's just one example, I know there's tons more and don't want to start a thread documenting bad FA signings because there have been some good ones, but it always turns out that the obvious players that suck are brought in, or worse, you sign guys like Stevie Johnson and the guy doesn't get used?

I'm just trying to understand why it's so obvious yet the people in power either don't see it or don't care.

Maybe this year is truly a write off season and Baalke is trying to get a high draft pick and he's clearing tons of cap space and Tomsula is just a fall guy, but why would you leave a long time assistant and well liked position coach that's loyal to the team, and hang him out to dry?
Just doesn't make sense. Truly frustrating. I understand that this season was clearly a step back and a rebuilding season, but that doesn't explain all the ridiculous decisions made.
FO got what they wanted with our 3 year run. We're right on schedule.
Yorks are Dorks.
Because this is the only franchise in all of the NFL stupid enough to promote a position coach to HC. Twice! Evidently lessons learned are not part of this front office's strategy.
