2) Hyde: Still looking great, still worried he tends to take big hits. Hoping I'm wrong but kinda worried hes going to slow down late in the year as those big hits add up. He's just a violent runner and those guys tend to wear down and get hurt.
3) Bush: Nice to see some burst there. Word I'd heard from Detroit was that they thought he was done. Small sample size, but looked quick out there.
4) O-Line: Good lord. Wow. Hoping that was a result of trying some new guys and playing a really good front 7...but that was ugly. Poor Kap never had anything resembling a chance. Kinda hoping for a Staley / Thomas / Kilgore (when healthy) / Martin / Boone line, but no idea how it's going to play out.
5) Acker: Nice surprise there. I was hoping for Reaser to beat out Wright, but I didn't see Acker coming. I probably should have though as he played well before getting hurt in the preseason LAST year.
6) Hunter: Hrmm. The line was a problem for sure, but Kendall looked timid...and SMALL. He's always been short, but he just looked smaller than I remember. Could just be me. Dunno. I don't think he'll be a 49er this time next week...and that sucks as I've always liked him.
7) Armstead: Continuation of last week....same guys on the radio, same lame comparison to Jarryd Hayne. Jarryd doesn't look good as a RB. Yes, he had a few long runs through huge holes and made guys miss in the open field, but the guy doesn't even look like a RB. If Lawrence Okoye had been setting the world on fire 2 years ago, then the comparison could hold water. He didn't. Jarryd is catching and running on Punt Returns and he's using instincts in the open field. Using that as a pretext to say that "If Jarryd Hayne can do it why can't Arik Armstead" is simply asinine.
8) Peyton Manning: I usually don't talk about players on the other team...but wow. He needs to stop. That arm is a noodle. He can play well on those short passes if Wright is the guy in coverage...but he has nothing on those throws.
9) Wright: Speaking of Wright, PLEASE don't play him with the starters. Invariable...3rd and short? Throw Wrights way. Open every time.
10) Bowman: Man that was nice to see. He still seems a bit off to me and sometimes the turf monster gets him, but he seems like a better player than he was in terms of his diagnosis of the play. He's not flying around but always seems to put himself in the right spot to make the play. He's not all the way back physically, but he's just constantly around the ball. Just imagine how good he'll be when he's more confident in that knee. :)
