Okay besides Boone, Hunter, and Boldin, who else is slated for free agency after this season? I know that Simpson, Bush, Wright (?) and several others are on one year prove it deals. We are currently a little over 13 million under the cap, can any of it apply to next year's cap, I remember reading something a couple of times where some of the money from the previous year could be applied to the next year? Can anyone shed light on that?
Just wondering, Aldon was a player we would have wanted to resign, now it is not so, so the approach to how we approach the future of players that we want to keep and those we want to go after looks different than the past currently. Anthony Davis's more than probable return also would affect us, but I gather not so much as a new FA signing or resigning.
Thoughts?

Simpson signed a 2yr deal.
Right now, while we have close to $13M, we really don't have that much to work with, we need to pay guys in season, plus the 10 man practice squad, players 52-53, the players on IR, NFI, and PUP, and money for emergencies in season.
And yes any unused cap room can be carried over into 2016.

What's the maximum % of cap you can avoid spending without being penalized?

Oh man, it seems like we are going to be in an awesome Cap situation for next year. Really hope we try and pick up some solid FA OL.

That and a serious pass rusher.

Looking over who is available, it's nothing great. We won't entice players based on winning,so we will have to overpay.

Well if Gab plays well and we put together a winning second half of the season effort, we might entice some players.

We might win 2-3 more games. We aren't a contender anymore. I wouldn't bank on using FA to fix the OL. We did that this year and got royally screwed.

Jeff Allen G, Stefan Wisniewski C, Brandon Brooks G, Joe Barksdale RT, and Chris Chester G are all guys I'd like the team to look at.
Not a lot of pass rushers available, but Derek Wolfe would be an absolutely amazing signing. He is such a force in Denver and would open up things for so many other guys on the team. I doubt he leaves, but that's kind of a dream signing for me.
Ronnie Hillman would be an interesting signing. He would complement Hyde well, and has proven he can be the #1 if needed.
Assuming Baalke is still in charge, I can see him make a move for Mo Claiborne. He likes to bring in struggling but talented corners.

How much under the cap are we? The OP says 13. But I have read 40 in some articles and 60 if we release Kap.

Every dude they got in FA was for back up purposes. Pears wasn't supposed to be starting at RT.

Yeah the OP is the current 2015 cap, that number will obviously be higher next year with free agents walking, potential trades and cuts. Overthecap estimates us to have a bit over 41+ million in cap space for 2016.

Need to look at OL, CB and pass rusher.
Muhammad Wilkerson would want big money but would be a perfect guy to sign. Armstead, Williams, Wilkerson would give us a beastly DL and bring our defense back to consistency in a good way.
I doubt Aldon Smith would want to come back here(and he's actually not playing as well as expected) but that's the other big piece of the puzzle on defense - pass rusher on the other side of Aaron Lynch.
Someone like Prince Amukamara would be a good signing to add to the young secondary.
