Who knows. I guarantee nobody thought the 1981 team was a title team coming off of a 6-10 season. In 1999, nobody had the Rams running to a championship after losing their prized free agent QB in preseason. Hell, none of the giant teams this decade were considered championship caliper.
While I don't think it's likely or probable, you just never know when a team is gonna gel and make a run. Despite its personnel losses this really is still a good roster and the added element of speed on the offensive side give me hope. Honestly, I could see anything from a 5-11 team to an 11-5 team. We will start to get some answers Monday night.

According to Bovada, a $1K bet on SF to win the Super Bowl will get you $500K. That's a lot of money. For anyone who *really* believes that the Niners have half a shot of winning it all, book that flight to Vegas now and make the bet now!

Last year we were snake-bitten w/many, many injuries, drama, etc.
Who would have ever predicted that??
But it happened.
This year, fortunes could reverse themselves and we could get all the breaks.
Other top contenders could have the hex on them.
If so, a SB isn't out of the question.

I believe that when Singletary left, the team wanted to show that he was the reason for their dysfunction. That should be at work this season as well with Harbaugh's leaving. Under Harbaugh last year, the team's dysfunction (mostly on offense) included excessive penalties, dropped passes, missed assignments, and individual players' poorest seasons. Excessive injuries too (mostly on defense). All that surely reflected on Harbaugh and the other coaches. This will show on the field in many positive ways.
When Singletary left the team had more talent than they have this season. It had much more continuity with many fewer new starters. It had no talent vacuum as the team has this year at OL. These will probably scuttle the positive of the Harbaugh/Roman etc. attrition.

16-0, Home Field advantage throughout the playoffs, blowout and shutout both the Green Bay Packers and Seahawks, force Tom Brady into 4 interceptions in the Super Bowl and turn Gisele Bundchen into the team masseuse.
But then I wake up and realize Jed, Trent and Jim T will be playing host, concierge, and waiter to the real Super Bowl teams in January. Wiah it wasn't so
