I was disappointed in AA's play last night. On at least a couple of plays he didn't set the edge well at all. On one play when he lined up in the 5t position he got completely fooled by a fake handoff and crashed down the line as the QB was rolling out to his side. It took AA way too long to find the ball and when he did he didn't have the speed to make any difference to how the play unfolded. Not good. He was not able to penetrate well when he rushed the passer from either side or from the 3t. I have a suspicion that the running backs that stay back to block on pass plays are beginning to figure out that they can take his pins out from under him if they get low and hit him at thigh level.
He didn't play enough in the first game to get a sense of how he would play this year in this defense. This game, to my eyes, he didn't look very effective. He is still slow getting off the snap (which is obviously not a good thing for an outside rusher). He seems to have his attention taken up too much with the fighting/wrestling with the o-linemen and slow picking up where the ball is. That's the way he appeared to play in this game to me anyway.
For no particular reason I've always felt like rooting for AA. He seems like a good kid/guy. I want him to do well. I hope he does well. I still think he can do well. But he has got to do better than what we saw last night.

What do you think over/under is on his sack total this year? I know that Canadian douche refused to pay you when you bet last year, but depending on what you think his sack total is, I'll bet with you this year. I'm thinking 5.5?
Yah that sounds about right IF he can stay healthy the entire year but i don't expect him to last the entire season.
Haven't I been saying this seen we drafted the guy???
now, the whole league knows how weak this guy is....
17th overall !!! dammmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn !!!!

Who knows. Pass rushers during preseason practice on new moves and stuff but do somewhat show up. For a 17th pick, Arik needs to show a little more but who knows.

I think everyone knows, people are just delusional in what they are seeing.

Still way too early to make a final judgement on this guy. Injuries have cost him PT and experience. If he is still a non-factor in mid-October, then write him off. For now, we need to see the pieces get PT together to see how things work out.

AA is no longer a rookie and in his 3rd year, he needs to start showing some growth because the development time is running short.

Yeah, I agree - even though he's had some bad luck with injuries, he's healthy now and he needs to start flashing more in games. I'd give him the whole year before coming to any conclusions, though.
