Good depth signing.
Makes Baalke that much more unpredictable in the draft
I wonder why they did the signing now. if they truly aren't that impressed with the ILBs in the draft, isn't it better if the other teams think they might draft one and trade ahead of the niners to beat them to the player?
I'd think the better strategy is to make teams think that you now DON'T need an ILB so they can stay put and not move ahead of you.

He looks kinda scrawny for a LB.

Yeah I still expect us to take an ILB and if we really like one I'm sure signing Wheeler does not prohibit us from taking one. However, in a weak ILB class at least one of Bishop, Wheeler, Moody, Wilhoite should be able to stand next to Bow.

Fins fans can hate all they want...he had over 100 tackles in both 2012 and 2013 as an OLB. Mangini will most likely use him inside but he can obviously play OLB, too. 1 yr contract, never hurts to have vet depth and a guy who can play multiple positions.

Wheeler is a good, no-risk signing. Holliday's release suggests J.Hayne might already be proving himself as a KR specialist.

Down year last year, but that's what we're famous for.. Getting budget veterans and turning their career around. Plus he'll be playing next to 3 all pro caliber linebackers if he ends up getting the starting nod.. I like it
