the question is does rodgers make it through 05, 06 and 07 physically and mentally healthy enough to be the player he is today. he is better than alex smith, nobody can dispute that. but you have to take into account what being thrown into the fire with our s**tty team could have done to him. him sitting behind favre for 3 years was the best thing that ever happened to him. imagine is alex could have done that, he wouldnt be rodgers but he would be a much better version of alex smith.

i don't think we would've been a playoff team, of course not, but long term wise, it would've been better. Rodgers has been a scrambler since day 1. Alex, even though he had the athleticism to do so, was never that type of player. also, it's not like Rodgers ever had a good OL either, but most of that is his own doing since he likes to hold on to the ball so long.
either way, nobody expected this out of Rodgers. it's not like he was drafted #2 overall, he was a late 1st round pick, and pretty much everybody in the damn country had Alex rated higher. but, it would've been interesting

Gotta go with Crabman. I think Rodgers time behind Farve was essential in developing him to the star he is today. With us, we would have jerked him around for a few years and had him playing behind Jonas "Glassman" Jennings

Man you are off today...smith and Rogers debate was crazy before the draft in the bay and on this site..it was 50/50..and...Rogers wasn't suppose to fall that late in the round
I would have sent 11 guys to block punts in the 4th quarter of the 2012 NFCCG against the Giants... looking back on it, with the conditions we were in, with Kyle Williams being concussed, with our D choking out the Giants and a 4 point lead... let them punt the ball anywhere they want to.

We were the best team in the NFL that year, and the Giants won off some lucky b******t
can we sign aaron rodgers instead of s**tty alex smith pls
Guys, not only did Aaron Rodgers get tutored by Favre for two or three years he had Mike McCarthy as his head coach. Impossible to tell if he would be the best QB in the league if he had played for Jimmy Raye et al.

I would like a do over on this offseason.

I would like to replay the 2011 NFCCG against the Giants, the 2012 SB against the Ravens, the 2013 NFCCG against Seattle, the 1990 NFCCG against the Giants, the 1983 NFCCG against the Redskins ...

But most of all, I would like to play the 1992 NFCCG against Dallas, but start Joe Montana over Young. Don't even care if we lose ... Just want to see Montana go out in a meaningful game.

We totally had it that year too! Our offense was unstoppable, and then 2nd play this crap happens

I mean, if we're gonna be completely fair, Rice DID fumble the week before though...

Exactly. Not to mention Rodgers would have been throwing to Arnaz Battle, Jason McAddley, and washed up Johnnie Morton whereas Smith would have been throwing to GB's great WRs. Also, it's ridiculous to think we would have had the same defense...kinda along the lines of 'if you go back in time and kill a mosquito, that could alter the world in the present day as we know it.' The ensuing seasons wouldn't have played out exactly as they did, meaning our draft positions would have been different, so it's not like you can just pencil in the fact that we still would have wound up drafting Willis, Bowman, Aldon, Staley, etc., signing Cowboy, Whitner, etc., hiring Harbaugh, Fangio, etc. The entire make-up of the team would have been altered.

Our secondary was horrible that year. No way we were going to stop Minnesota. It was a miracle Atlanta did.
