Most definitely losing Crabtree and Lloyd..have a decision to make on Johnson either cut or extend/restructure..that being said..I'm all for cutting him if we go all in for Torrey Smith who is exactly what we have been missing and then still draft a WR in the 1st 2 rounds..thoughts ? Also AB if Johnson cut with other expected cuts will Smith be a reality ? And how much do you think he will get on the open market ?

I don't think Smith will break the bank. If the Niners could find a way to work around the cap and sign him it would open up more options on draft day.

If we could get him for a decent price it would be great

Looking at the reality of the situation how many top flight receivers would go to a team that states clearly running the ball is first priority.

Exactly the kind of deep threat we need, but I doubt we sign him. I bet Smith signs a richer contract than Crabtree. Teams love to spend cash on speedy WRs.

Smith I think will get a little less than Wallace but right around 8 mil. I think we will try to get him but not hard enough. I want a PROVEN deep threat and smith is that plus he is good at intermediate routes as well.

I'm a huge Smith fan, loved him coming out of Maryland, thought he was a 1st rd pick. I just don't see how he gets less than $8M a yr, he is clearly a better WR than Crabtree is.
The only way they will release Stevie is if they have an agreement in place with a WR, if that happens, then yes it's possible, maybe not that probable. I can see Oakland throwing a lot of money at him to be their #1 WR.

Yeah I guess it's a long shot but what really might help is his big brother Boldin being here..I would be totally fine with a Wr core or Boldin Smith Rookie Ellington Patton..

Nah we don't need another veteran WR. We have enough with Boldin and SJ and then Patton and Ellington. Time to draft Breshad Perriman and either Phillip Dorsett or Tyler Lockett.

You think he can he had with baalkes formula.
Not over paying free agents and signing with from within? He's exactly what we need at wr. Him, boldin, qp/Ellington/Johnson in 4 wr sets would be neat. Depending on if we cut Johnson to save cap room.

I'd be fine with cutting stevie and still drafting a rookie in the 1st 2 rounds if we signed smith..

If he's around after 3-5 days of FA, there's a chance, IMO. We don't pay 1st day FA premiums, and I think that's the right plan.
