The Smiths being injured took away our pass rush. Hung our secondary out to dry and made Flacco look liek a superstar. That did us in. If they are healthy we win the game. We have been snakebit for 4 years now.

I firmly believe the smarter move after Gore's 33 yard run would have been to take a time out after that play to give Frank a breather.. then run 4 times. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but the fact that the only run in that final 4 plays was with James instead of Gore is perplexing.

Damn. I haven't even watch any highlights. I didn't watch NFL Network for the whole year. I even canceled Sports Package on my cable TV that year as well. Can't even watch it now. The hurt

I said I would never watch the game again, but I did today after watching the end of SB48's replay. As always, re-watching a game after the fact gives you a different perspective knowing what to look for in terms of mistakes and missed opportunities. LMJ's fumble, settling for 3 at the end of the first half and the opening kick off of the second half are the 3 game changing plays imo.
I think a small part of me was okay with re-watching it now that Harbaugh is gone. I wouldn't say I was happy to see him leave, but I'm not exactly clamoring for him at this point, given how the team regressed. We really should have won this game, but that's the nature of the game sometimes.
I honestly can't tell if I feel better or worse, though lol.
It's funny I've rewatched the 1992 nfc title game 5+ times and that game broke niners816's 13 year old heart It just shows the power of time and for me and SB47 it hasn't been enough time yet.
I can't see how anyone can put themselves through the torture of watching that game again. I only saw a brief moment when it replayed Saturday and that's when Kap through that interception. I feel like a birthright was taken from us when we lost. With that said, I'm with you on being able to watch the 1992 NFC title game and other heartbreaking losses. Not only is it the passage of time but also knowing that we eventually overcame and won a Super Bowl. If this incarnation of the team can win a title, then maybe, in about 10 years I can watch Super Bowl 47.

you got it, O-line was built for Singletary's Ground and pound style. Great at run blocking not so great at pass blocking.

Having two burners at the TE position was like nothing ever seen before. But yeah, when the O line is on it's game, the rest of the offense seems to fall into place.
Uh what?

The o-line was fantastic in 2012, but we also had very good speed (Davis, Moss, Ginn), versatility (Walker, Miller), and possession receiving (Crabtree, Manningham). We wad mismatches all over the field, being able to run and throw equally well from 2 TE sets. Defenses couldn't focus on any one area. We lost that element the past 2 seasons.
Speed is essential.
I thought we looked slow as molasses
The Oline's pass blocking needs LOTS of work

Walker did play in the game. He threw a hell of a block on Ed Reed on Gore's TD

I don't need to watch it. I know what happened. No team has ever won a Super Bowl when it allowed the other team to score 34 or more points. And only two teams scoring 31 or more have lost (Cowboys and Niners.)
