Yeah, it's a cool chart but some of the ratings are off. Most notably:

- Aldon should be elite.
- Reid is better than average.
- Vernon and McDonald are rated the same lmao

I have a feeling a few of our players will be more respected by the end of the season.

Makes sense. Based on ability alone, Aldon is clearly elite. But if they're factoring in games missed due to suspension, it makes sense his grade would be lower.

VD was truly awful last year. Not just in the passing game, but his blocking fell off too. He looked banged up and discouraged. Throwing to the TE's also wasn't a priority last year. It was a very WR-centric offense, and it was not effective. We need to get Vernon to bounce back this year, starting with involving him more in the passing game.

While it's primarily based on last year (or their last year of action) it does include more than just a nod to their career. For example, if a corner played well up until 2014 and then stunk, we'll take account of his better years as well. Further, this is an opinion based series, as a group we have had a series of discussions to weigh up which rating to give each player. No one in PFF believes the overall grades are absolutely definitive and neither should you. For example, how should one weight the relative receiving and blocking skills of a tight end? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
