Why are you people so content with ALMOST winning a championship?
Harbaugh's sorry offense will never win a championship. That's already evident to anyone with even a limited understanding of the game. The defense has been championship caliber the entire time he's been here. The offense has NEVER held its weight. Harbaugh has made NO CHANGES whatsoever. That just isn't going to cut it. Why stick with what DOESN'T work?
Harbaugh took us to 3 straight NFCC games and in the end, we walked away with nothing.
If he's willing to make the proper changes, then great. But all signs have indicated that he will not. No changes means more of the same, and more of the same is not good enough. Moral victories are a joke. If we are one of the 31 teams that failed to win it all, ALMOST getting there means nothing.

Looking at it from the perspective of year 4 you're right. In my mind the team lacked one thing during their run.....................LUCK.

Too early to tell. Firing Harbaugh could be a colossal mistake, or a stroke of genius.
The mistake in 2003 wasn't really the firing of Mariucci. He was a decent coach. The mistake happened a few years prior when Terry Donahue became GM.

By your logic the Catch III to Vernon Davis... that meant nothing.
Gore getting to play in his first ever playoff game after all those dark years... meaningless.
Killing the Packers in the 2012 playoffs... who cares?
By your logic why even watch the games? None of the games matter unless we end up World Champs in the end, right?

If you agreed that 25+ head coaches should be fired every season, then at least I can understand your position.
If you agreed that unless you have Peyton Manning, you need to get a new QB next season even if you already have Aaron Rodger, Tom Brady, or Drew Brees. Almost the best QB isn't good enough.
Every team should get rid of 50+ of their players every season, because unless you have the best player in a position, it is not good enough. Second team all pro player? Get rid of him, he isn't the best and is not good enough.
Which and how many current 49ers players, coaches, GM, owner, and etc is the best in the NFL that the team should not get rid of under your own stupid standard?

So far I am the lone Steve Mariucci vote. Reason is when Mooch was fired they didn't even have any replacement options lined up. I am hoping they learned from their mistakes and they have a list of candidates ready to talk to. Also Harbaugh seems to have worn out his welcome and while he turned the franchise around I think his stubbornness and conservatism would always stand in the way of winning a Super Bowl. This year's blow out at the hands of Denver was the last straw for me. Everybody and their brother knew Denver was far superior yet Harbaugh went with the status quo and took no risks on either side of the ball basically guaranteeing a loss.

If New England and SEA had this mentality, they would never have given Pete Carrol and Bill Bellichek multiple different stints in the NFL as a head coach.
Both are at the top of their game now.
JH is a noob in the NFL and of course isn't perfect and had some problems. But I think he would have made the changes needed if the F/O wasn't leaking b******t and undermining him all year long.

Not content.
Never said I was. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle things. Letting this entire thing fester and distracting the entire team for a year is the wrong way to handle things as an owner. Even his endorsements were horrible. "You don't have to like someone to work with them." Really?
I want us to keep jim make the changes to the offense that's needed and move forward. Tossing out a coach who did what he did, like another one can simply replicate the success is extremely arrogant.
Exhaust all possibilities and then move on And the absolute worst thing that could be done is trade him to another team. That is the worst thing we could do.
The ego and arrogance all around is sickening. The players and the fans suffer and the people who can make the decisions aren't happy with success unless they are 100% responsible for it.
