"We are hearing through multiple sources directly linked to former Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden that he is interested in San Francisco's head coaching job should it open up in January." This is the best news I've heard yet. Hope it's true.

Lol don't trust the site but it's not a secret that he loves the niners and I bet he would be excited to work with this team. I actually like his broadcasting though. Probably the only one that does lol.

Who's to say this is true but that aside there aren't many teams he'd leave the booth for but the 9ers are probably one of a few. No secret he loves this team. I don't like him nearly as much as I would Harbaugh (with a new o staff -rathman) but I'd settle for him. I'd probably take him over Fangio, Tomsula, and the other coordinators. I wouldn't be expecting us to be better than we were the last 3 years though. I think we might top out at 9-10 (11 maybe) wins with him, probably a round or 2 in the playoffs.

You can see why this situation would be attractive to anyone that wants to coach. Roster loaded with talent, and coming off a real down year. The only way to go is back up, and you're a hero.
Gruden is only 51 ... he should be right in the prime of his coaching years.

Questionable source is very questionable indeed.
Then again, if Harbaugh goes, everyone and their grandpappy will be interested in the 49ers job, how many opportunities do you get to coach a Superbowl contender right out of the box.

If he gets Kap right and fixes the offense then he can absolutely win a SB here. He's #1 on my list

Serious reservations if true. As far as I'm concerned he's a Harbaugh clone in terms of being difficult to work with.

I think he would do good here but would love to see Fangio stay.
Anyone agree Gruden struggled after he won the SB because didn't Tampa give up draft picks to get him?

Name me one former coach who has left the luxury and security of the broadcast booth to go back to coaching. And Gruden never was that good. He was his SB with Dungy's team, and was particularly bad with QB's. No thanks!

My unnamed sources say that this is BS just like ever report out there stating Harbaugh is out at seasons end. All of these reporters always start with "I think" or "I heard" so to me it's bs.
