What's truly missing from the 49ers...intimidating players and that's on Baalke.

All the "noise" and injuries has robbed this team of what should have been a special season. Unfortnately that happens from time to time in the NFL. Just have to move forward and retool.

LOL, this.
This thread clearly shows that some people are just grasping at straws looking for answers. What's missing from the 49ers is a consistent offensive identity. What's missing from the 49ers is a redzone offense that doesn't rely on their kicker to score for them. What's missing from the 49ers is a passing offense that suits the strengths of it's receivers and the limitations of the OL in pass protecting. If the 49ers just had ONE of those three things that I just named, this thread would not exist and you'd be talking about a 9-4 team at worse.

Letting Delaine go was a HUGE fail on Baalke part. But you can't win them all. Delaine > Crabtree

LMAO. I love it.

The reality is that you can't head hunt in the NFL anymore, the refs are calling everything strictly and the days of absolutely blowing up receivers going across the middle are pretty much over. Its just the way the NFL is nowadays. The safeties are hardly the issue, this is still a tough, hard hitting defense that has more than held their own for much of the season despite missing a lot of key players.

Agree!!!

Bethea was an upgrade over Whitner.

Our problems start w/JH.

If Baalke could have done something better, IMO, he'd have gotten Kap an adult Mentor. The kid is extremely immature and just the way he's not handling the adversity shouts that he needs someone to guide him.

He also needs quality coaching/offensive schemes that JH didn't provide. In his first season he made the throws and his reads - he hasn't progressed and that's apparent.

The Oline was built for power running not passing. Gore was averaging 5 yards a carry yesterday and we should have kept using him.

There are allot of decisions to be made but keeping JH isn't one of them.

IMO, he's gone along with his sidekicks Roman and Morton.

Look back at the team in 2011 and the current team that just got whupped the last two games. What you'll notice is they no longer have players that scare people physically. On Defense we had Dashon Goldson and Whitner and THEY set the tone of the games, not Navorro or Willis. No TE or WR would dare catch a check down or short crossing pattern because they knew they'd pay the price or they knew they wouldn't get any YACs. Remember when we played NE and Aaron Hernandez caught that pass over the middle and got clocked and the next play he alligator armed a catch and Aldon intercepted it? Or remember the game changing play of Whitner on Thomas against NO? Oh but they were a liability in coverage? Really, and our new guys are doing that much better? Are we winning? Intimidation leads to incomplete passes & turnovers.

Whitner is having a pro bowl year in Cleveland. If you watched this week's game against the Colts and look whom gave his D the attitude to go toe to toe with the superior Colts, specially in the Goal line stand at the end. You can go through the roster and see how Baalke let some of our toughest layers go and replaced them with some competent players that don't bring that kind of attitude. Our blocking has fallen apart since Delanie left. At the end of his stay here, Delanie was knocking people out on those Wham plays and he had the speed to at least give opposing D something to think about. Where's his replacements? How about new blood young OLinemen that maul people? That's what Harbaugh's system needs and Baalke's penny pinching has not provided. Look at Pep Hamilton's offense in Indianapolis, notice they have a couple of very good TEs?
We have a top 5 defense in spite of all the missing talent to go along with a failing offense and you think the problem is Reid and Bethea?
oh the intimidation of whitner, goldson (one of the most overrated safeties EVER by some of Niner fans here and elsewhere), sopoaga, ricky jean francois, t. brown, rogers, parys haralson....oh how we miss it

yes, intimidation by guys who we let go and who never performed better than they did here, and all left because they weren't worth the value they were providing is CLEARLY the problem....we ONLY have a top 5 defense

I quit reading after your goldson and whitner line. Whitner single handedly cost us a super bowl.
