Oh I know it full well cos our coaching staff suck and that's not just on the WRs. We don't have a QB who can fully utilize all the weapons. So, is a double whammy really.
So why do you assume that Ellington can't play, or even Patton for that matter. For all anyone knows, Ellington is an absolute stud when given the chance to play, something he never received here thus far.
The biggest mistake people are making is that because Moncrief or Matthews are playing well on their respective teams, that they'd be playing just as well with the 49ers in this offense, behind four other wide receivers and to me that's just baseless speculation. Impossible to tell how they would look on this team, whether they'd even play.
The point is these WRs have already shown they can ball as proven in all these other teams. That means if they can't succeed with the 9ers offense, it will only be down to our inability in getting a decent passing game going.
If we can't play Ellington and Patton, whose fault is that ? Are we forced to play experienced free agents because they cost more and we have already paid for them ? Or are we unable to develop young WRs to beat out veterans ? Tell me, Patton has only played 6 games with 3 receptions out of 5 targets for 34 yards since 2013, if you think he can be a stud, when are we going to see it ? Or he truly can't beat out Anquan, Crab, Stevie and B. Lloyd ?
Whatever it is that the FO and coaching staff are doing as far as WRs are concerned is simply dysfunctional.
