The biggest problem with Kap this year is - he hasn't improved. In this league - you've to get better every year because opposing teams adjust. You can't keep making the same mistakes - and that's what he has been guilty of this season.
But, he isn't the only one. OL, poor coaching, and inconsistent play from WRs are also culprit here.

There was a setback where he just lost his focus during the Seattle game, but I believe he has regained it this week. I have no doubt he is going to have a great game against the Raiders, and that will carry over into the Seattle game.

Look how quick he flips through that and barely looks at it. That doesn't surprise me at all.
How long does it take you to look at a single picture and see the obvious mistake? That's obviously whats going on in that gif. Your assumption of the time that expired prior to the start of the .gif shows your bias.

Kap's progress? Many fans on the Zone have watched 49er QB's from Tittle to the present. They know what a QB "looks" like. Footwork, pocket presence, reading what the defense gives, finding a weak link on the D, how does he perform under pressure, does he make the play with the game on the line. Check off what you think and make your own judgement.

I am just not ready to give up on Kap yet. A lot of the problems I see are related to the line in both run blocking and pass pro. He gets hurried and makes mistakes, but he has also lost the holes he was used to having . There are accuracy issues that I didn't see in the last two years, but he also hasn't been getting those opportunities in the middle where Crabs, Q and VD have been so effective.
Throwing at Sherman was really bad, I still am questioning why Lloyd was the preferred target at times over Stevie, but I think that Kap will get that confidence back and show us some of that mojo he had in 2012 and late last year.

Honestly if we get eliminated from the playoffs, I'd like to see Gabbs start a game or two. If the offense is so broken that Kap is totally ineffective, then let's allow Gabbert to get reps being ineffective too. It would be nice to know if there is any hope for him going into the draft.
The only way I see that happening is if Harbaugh is fired after a weak offensive effort against the Raiders and losing to San Diego. For Harbaugh to go to Gabbert while Kaepernick is still healthy would be to admit he made the wrong decision on Alex Smith, something he will not do.

Yea I think Gabbert would've taken Alex's job had he stayed here.

Yeah if the Oline was great he would look average again like he has the past few years. Kap can be an average NFL QB. If that is good enough for certain fans that is fine. He is never going to be a HOFer though. His strengths are not enough to overcome his weaknesses beyond being average. I do not think Newton, RGIII, or Kap have any chance to be anything beyond average.

I thought there might be some value in this thread as distinct from the main Kaepernick thread but it looks like I was wrong.
By the way, just to mention, opinions aren't facts, people. Dictionaries are your friends.

Nice post, by the way. The O has failed. Not one man. Across the board. Only Gore and Boldin (despite his dropsies) can hold their head up this year. That includes the entire coaching squad on the O side.
