We missed big...we had McCarthy AND Rodgers in our hands...instead we walked out with Alex and Nolan.

IMO, biggest blunder in 49ers history. With our defense, now doubt we would've won at least 2-3 SBs since Alex / Aaron were drafted.

Damn
Could have had McCarthy and Arron Rogers and probably would have won 3 Super Bowls by now....

Packers fans hate McCarthy too. He's pretty overrated, having one of the Top 3 QB's in the NFL will cover up a lot of weaknesses. Kaepernick is not a Top 3 QB or close but he deserves better than this s**tty called offense from a guy that Harbaugh pulled off the scrap heap off while he was coaching high school football.

I think it's safe to say Kap has covered up Roman's weaknesses. He can do things that defenses cannot account for. He does them with less frequency now, but he is still very capable. Give us a supposedly more pro-ready average QB, but not nearly as talented, and Roman may have been out the door long ago.

Mcarthy looked great as a coordinator for the saints and horrible as our coordinator and great again at GB. What happened? Did he forget how to coach for one year? Did he loose creativity for a short while? Did defenses figure out his predictable offenses and then not all of a sudden? Or did he have an inconsistent QB?

What about Andy Reid? Why did he get fired in Philly? He won with Qbs named Kolb, Garcia, hoying, detmer, and feely. All of whom, besides Garcia, never won anywhere else! He get Michael Vick (the most extreme of inconsistent Qbs who some call the coach killer) and he gets fired!

That brings us to Kaepernick! The Roman/Harbaugh combo switch to him at qb Midseason and we went to a Super Bowl! In that Super Bowl, they couldn't have had a better game plan! Even with a kickoff return, a long bomb TD and an INT that was an overthrow of an open wr (not the playcall) none of which was the OCs fault we still had a chance to win the game. With a run called that probably would have scored but Kaep wasn't watching the play clock(which he still struggles with)! A pass where Moss was open in the endzone but Kaep locked in on Crabtree (he still struggles with locking on to one wr)! Then the final play which could have been called PI if the ball was catchable which it wasn't because Kaep threw it out of bounds!(which he still does) Dont forget, after the loss Ron Jaworski said Kaep would be the greatest QB of all time!

But roman doesn't throw screen passes!

Go on YouTube an look up Kendall hunter highlights. When he is playing with Alex smith all I his highlights are screen passes!

So again, did roman forget how to coach? Did he forget how to call screen passes? Would you trade him for seattles OC? Whose play calls are like Russell run around for 7 seconds and then throw a ball with pinpoint accuracy to a WR or a TE (who no one has heard of) on the sideline and throw it where only they can catch it? Or run around and elude the blitz so that your RB and TE who was originally supposed to block can peel out and be wide open an run for a TD!

The difference is we have an inconsistent Qb and Seattle doesn't! Let me start by saying this, I am a Kaep fan! But, he has been inconsistent since college! I wasn't a fan before because I have seen him play live twice in college and in both games he was the reason his team lost. He wasn't losing because of INTs but in crucial moments he would miss open Wrs, or he would throw the fastball when he didn't need to. But after his first start he gave me a glimpse of who he could be at QB and I was fully on board! I still am on board and I don't mind him having the contract that he has!

That being said, I don't care who we bring in to call plays it will NOT make Kaep more consistent over night. It will probably take an offseason or 3 for him to get there. I have faith that given enough time Roman/Harbaugh could make him consistent enough to win a. SB! I also believe that Kaep is not the type of QB that can adapt to any system you put him in, at this point you need to change your system to fit him and what he does well! Therefore, even if we brought in Sean Peyton as our OC, our offense would look more like ours than it would like New Orleans because Kaep simply can't do a lot of the things Brees can on a consistent basis! So consistency and continuity might be better for Kaep problems right now! Also, changing things could actually set him back rather than help him out!

I am just as frustrated as everyone else! Kaep makes easy throws look hard and routine plays look complicated. I for one believe that those are temporary problems There is plenty of blame to go around but the grass isn't always greener on the other side! I hope that cooler heads prevail and that we allow the plan to unfold the the growing process to continue rather than make a change for the sake of change. JMHO!

You need to ask yourself why Kap is not growing. He isn't a dumb guy. Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh are responsible for his growth/lack thereof, unless he isn't putting in the work (and all reports have always said he is the first guy in the building and the last guy out, so him not giving effort is very highly unlikely). It is their job to teach him, and it is specifically Roman's job to put him in a position to succeed. Greg Roman fails miserably at this.

Dumping Roman would be a good move, not just "change for the sake of change," as you say. It is a move that NEEDS to be made.

I completely agree. I used to be on the "Fire Roman" wagon, and after Thursday I am DEFINITELY on the "Kap crap" wagon. Put it this way, I think we should keep him until a better option comes (get someone in the draft) up.

Maybe we don't run screens because Kap can sell it. The other night he had TWO BEAUTIFUL chances to get us big yards. All he had to do was dump it off to the RB.. Instead he had to throw a bomb to our FB in the endzone with Chancellor blanketing him.

Kap has the potential to be great against certain teams. But against legit defenses he does worse that average QB's.

This. Roman doesnt need to go because "something needs to change", he needs to go because his playcalling is dismal and this offense in general has failed to show any real improvement in the 4 seasons he has been here.

He might have an encyclopedias worth of football knowledge but without the ability to apply that during in game situations, he's best off as a position coach somewhere.

what the heck do records have to do with anything?!! You could even argue that Roman and Harbaugh got him those records because they called the plays.

The bottom line is that Kap is not only not making us win..he's making us lose. That is the only thing that counts.

What happend to the read-option? How come they could make it work in Seattle, but we can't (or won't call it) over here?

It's coaching...we need a QB coach (don't know where to find those), a new OC, and a backup Veteran QB (maybe we could steal hasselbeck?) for guidance. Kaep still has a lot to learn and I don't want to keep waiting.

He was not in the building during the off season he went to Miami and worked out instead. They brought a QB guru in this summer and from all accounts Kap did not work with him like he should have. Kap is a mental football midget.
A good OC figures out ways to make what they have look good, Roman figures out ways to make his players look like sh*t.

Mike Nolan wouldn't let McCarthy run the offense like he wanted to... And about Seattle's OC; are you kidding me? I would take that dude in a heart beat. He has crap receivers and makes them look exceptional, takes Russell Wilson's strengths and turns into a pro bowl Super Bowl winning QB, and Seattle plays to run up the score and run teams into the ground; go for the jugular mentality. I'd take him

Highly overrated as a playcaller. their offense, let's be reality is Lynch running the ball and Wilson running around and scrambling until the defense breaks down, that's pretty much it. They're also extremely predictable, guys just execute a lot better in their offense. He's got a more aggressive mindset but isn't anything to write home about. If he ends up as a head coach, I think he gets exposed pretty quickly.

He was also a pedestrian playcaller with the Vikings before as well and wasn't well liked there either.
