All the teams we are in the wildcard hunt with have games vs. one another;
Seattle v Philly
Seattle v AZ x2
Detroit v AZ
Dallas v Philly x2
Packers v Eagles
Not to mention they all have tough games ahead of them;
Seattle @ KC
Deroit @ New England
NE @ Green Bay
KC @ AZ
Bills @ Packers
Colts @ Cowboys
All we have to do is play one game at a time and we will be a okay. The divison isnt loss and a wild card may only require 10-6.

they control their own destiny...they 49ers hold the tiebreaker over the saints, cowboys and eagles. all we have to do is tie for the wildcard and they're in. with the palmer injury the division is up for grabs as well. week 17 will probably be for the division.
Go 49ers!!!

Assuming division winners are Cowboys, Packers, Cardinals, Saints....
Wildcard contenders are Eagles, Lions, Seahawks, 49ers vying for 2 spots.
We need to have a better record than Seattle, and we need the Eagles (assuming Detroit will have a decent record and take one of the Wildcard spots) to start losing.
In essence, we should be rooting against the Eagles and Seahawks. They're our main competition for that 2nd spot.

It's too early to tell how it will shake out....but we still have two games against Seattle and a game against the Cards. The Cards just lost Palmer for the season, but the backup Stanton beat us once before. We will most likely not win the division and have to make it into the playoffs as a Wildcard and probably play most of our games on the road. We're a good road team though, and I think we probably have the worst home field advantage in the league right now.

It's possible but the Niners MUST win all of their remaining NFC West games - even @Seattle.
Agree.
Not probable BUT possible.
It's losing the games we should flat out win that kills us.

Why is Detroit in the Wild Card race ? Right now they are leading the NFC North.

I will EMPHASIZE on your last point there. TBPH, I think we have a BETTER chance of making it to the SB playing on the road than having a home game. Levi's is not a home field. Our fans are pathetic, and our team is incapable of rising to the occasion when our fans hush each other and remain seated at all times. Id rather Kap and Co. use the boos and ahhs from the opposing fans to fuel their hunger.
The only place I fear playing in the playoffs is GB, bc they look like they're on a mission and Rodgers will remember the 4x beatdown he's taken from us. Everywhere else, including Seattle, is a preference over lowly Levi's.

Assuming GB will win the division. Detroit has a tougher schedule including road game against NE. GB plays NE at home. Plus, history dictates that like Arizona, they are bound to collapse before season's end. But I do think they'll have enough wins for a WC spot.

I think it's highly likely that with Palmer out the Cards lose against Detroit, who just got Megatron back, lose twice to Seattle and lose to us.
I think we have a very good shot at sweeping Seattle (barring injuries) as I expect us to have Dorsey back and we can bottle up Lynch and contain Wilson better than any other team with Aldon and Aaron. Our secondary is also better than it has been in years. We need the Offense to really step it up on Seattle and prove a point, but the Seattle defense is not as good as it was last year and if Mebane has pulled his hamstring I don't think he will be available for a month or so.
We've got to obviously focus a game at a time but we have the ability to win out if we can resolve our offensive difficulties and we took a step forward against the Saints. I think the OLine is embarrassed after the Denver and Rams showings and now have a point to prove.
Arizona have to go to St Louis without Palmer and I think that could become a tough game for them, Rams also got to play Seahawks in Seattle and they play them tough - those are two games I could see being upsets.
It's not outwith the realms of possibility that we emerge on 11-5 and win the division - Seattle at KC this weekend is going to be big for us, if the Chiefs can do us a favour....

As it stands, they are are still 2 games ahead of us. Looking at their remaining schedule, the very most I can see is they lose 3 more to the Cards, Pats and Packers, that will make them 11-5 even if the Packers were to win NFC North. So, yes they will definitely get one of the wild card spots, probably the 5th seed. No way we will get to 11-5, we will be fighting with the Seahawks and Eagles and I am not sure we can split the Seahawks series given how crap our offense is playing plus last year even with a full squad we only won by a field goal.

Well its not entirely up to us. We have to win games and teams have to lose game. Worst position to be in but still lots of football left.
We are the 8th seed in a 6 man race and so far no team we need to lose has lost. Eagles still left to play tonigh. We are a game behind Seattle with 2 to play against them and a game behind packers.
I don't think we will win the division. The cardinals seem like the seahawks of 2013. Seems like they keep getting lucky. I think they have had about 4 games or more that they came back and won in the second half or late in the 4th. Little destiny on their side

Hence, we have to root against the EAGLES and SEAHAWKS.

If the eagles lose tonight it will be tough for them to get a playoff spot with the schedule they have got.

Hate to say it, but the Niners still probably have to win out just to get into the playoffs unless the Cardinals and Seahawks have some serious setbacks. On the other hand, if the Niners beat the Seahawks twice and beat the Cardinals at the end of the season, things could be close.

The Seahawks have gone back to their original identity. They are running the read option incredibly well right now. Beast Mode is no joke plus you still have 2 more power backs behind him in Turbin and Michael. Although their passing game is kind of weak at the moment, ours is not exactly any better neither. Our D better be ready to play the run and play much better than we are currently doing when we meet in 2 weeks. Our O needs to build on what we did yesterday. We need to refocus on the run game. Frank and Hyde probably doesn't provide enough firepower especially when you compare that to Seattle, if Gaskins is any good we need to promote him to the 53 especially if Hyde is going to do KR from now on cos he looked better than Ellington. Granted the Giants are weak against the run, but by God those Seahawks ran all over them at will.
