The bye week provides a good time to stop and look at the performance of our team so far this season. Obviously some of you dont like PFF, but theres a lot of you whole enjoy seeing their breakdowns. I personally think its a very good tool to see how our players have been performing outside the common fan eye test.

Its pretty weird Joe Staley is in the green. Every time I look up he's giving up edge pressure.

That's why his pass block is at 0.0 and his run block is at 3.3 so that put him in the green overall. -1.1 for penalties think he is 2nd to brooks in that category. Iupati as well freaking 10.9 for run blocking -4.8 for pass blocking so only reason he is that high in the green is the run blocking. Those numbers are bad enough that we should sit him down on pass plays and put him back in on running plays. Tip to the defense but at least 1 less turnstyle in there. J/K but seriously maybe their is a theme here with everyone being 0.0 or below in the pass block area... Mike Solari!!! Hopefully Harbaugh puts loyalty aside and fires him and Roman if we don't get it done this year.
Side note makes it clear to see who our dead wood is and hopefully some or all of these guys are gone after this year. Brooks (ill settle for a significant pay cut), TJE and Dobbs hopefully upgraded over and let go in FA, Lemonier either add 10-15 pounds of muscle and bulk and learn some new pass rush moves or could be gone, Crabtree let go in FA, Martin could be cut to save 1 mil but need another 3rd t to replace him, Dahl cut to save a few mil, Wilhoite could be gone in fa, Boone possibly traded.

These stats reward consistency I believe. Kilgore has been consistent. He has not been that dominant though.
Get this guys, before the season, if I said, "The teams best pass rushers by the bye week will be..."
1 Aaron Lynch
2 Ian Williams
3 Dan Skuta
What adjective would you use to describe this opinion?

Its cumulative. So it rewards total contribution. Each positive play adds to your score for each game, and each negative play subtracts from it. Then your overall positive (or negative) contributions are added up for a season long score.
Kilgore was having a very good year. Fortunately we have a very capable rookie to replace him. Kilgore's slight weakness this year was in pass protection, where he got pushed back into Kap's pocket a lot. Marcus Martin is bigger and stronger, so the middle of the line might now hold a better pocket to step up in.

These are nice to look at and thank you to the OP for posting them, but at the same time, when I see Boldin at 0.2 and Gore at -0.2 I can't really take these stats that seriously.

Thats because youre only going off eye test criteria.
The point of PFF is to look deeper than the casual stats. If Iupati and Staley bust a huge running lane open for Gore, he isnt going to get a ton of credit for running through it. Iupati and Staley get the credit. Thats the point of this system. It gives credit where its really due on each individual play.
0.0 is average. So as long as you arent in the red, which is -1.0 or greater, youre doing fine. Neither Gore or Boldin are having fantastic seasons, so I dont understand what you think their scores should be.
Shoot them a message and theyll explain everything. When I first started going to the site I called them out on being so hard on Ahmad Brooks, and I pretty much got owned in the response, backed up with all kinds of numbers and scouting observations about how he had been terrible.

I understand the system, been looking at them for a while now not sure exactly how many years. Still, I understand they have value & it's a unique way of looking at things that I appreciate on many level. But I'm not buying that Frank Gore is a minus and Anquan Boldin is barley above a zero, I don't care what numbers, evaluations or who says it, I'm not buying it.
