Yeah, he'll get better. Despite the 20 yard cushion, the encouraging thing is we all know he's very quick out of his breaks and when he gets back to form, he and Cox are going to have a field day. We now know the secondary: Cox & Brock with Ward in the slot (when healthy) and Bethea and Reid. That's pretty damn good there. Cox can always slide inside to the slot as well to get more aggressive and bigger on the outside by bringing in Cully/Cook/Johnson. Aldon should add at least a sack a game overall plus a few pressures which may also help free up Lynch/Brooks. Dorsey may be back at some point...Dial can play, same for Dobbs and TJE as backups. Add Willis soon and Bowman "later, rather than sooner" and it will be a much faster and aggressive defense with tons of depth.

20 yard cushion

you really wont let up on your fantasy that pressing and jamming the receiver would have made a difference with 0 pass rush whatsoever.
What do you think when coach Harbaugh said self scouting? Did he mean by his coaches preparing for the game, maybe who keeps struggling with schemes to possibly fire them? Or individual players itself, who they need to coach up more, maybe extra time in the class room for that player.

Do the math smart guy...LOS is the Denver 40...Brock is breaking at the 49er 40. That's, basically, a 20 yard cushion. Pitch-and-catch.

no, cushion at the SNAP, how far off is he from the receiver? like 7 yards roughly. im talking about that cushion to start with. we played the kind of man you wanted in some of the film review, was that not fulfilling?

oh yeah let's play tight jamming press man coverage when we got all this pressure going our way

Just personal opinion, the best way to attack Manning is to just rush him... even if we put 10 guys back in coverage, if he sits there all day, he will eat every kind of coverage alive..

Manning will always have a fine game, that's because he's just an awesome player, but if you can hit him often, his game changes...

that's realy the only way to stop this Hall of Famer..

seems to me, from the above photo, that we didn't even bother rushing .. it's like we're counging ONE- ALLIGATOR... TWO ALLIGATOR..

On a typical week most film study goes into studying the upcoming opponent but with the extra time with the bye week they can look back and study their own team to look for weaknesses.

They'll look to see if they are tipping plays on offense, if opposing offenses are exploiting something in the defense, individual technique of players and what they can improve on etc.

As well as the upcoming opponents; as harbaugh mentioned in his presser

You gotta love this alignment eh? 3 rushers only with 8 dropped back in coverage. And you guys blame the pass rush? Really? Worst possible alignment for Manning...zero press all clean releases for the receivers. Easy pickings! 22 of 26 with 3 dropped passes. Didn't even break a sweat! Done by the 4th quarter.

Jam press the sh!t out of their WR's throwing off their quick-strike timing offense WHILE actually rushing more than 3 guys and you have a fighting chance. Period.

Um, OK. And...no, they didn't do a single thing I'd had hoped from basic film study on Manning and this offense.

Oh yeah rush more then 3 setting up to get beat even easier. I mean gotta love people like Whilhoite and Borland matched up on people like Julius Thomas and Wes Welker on occassion.

Manning was going through reads ALL day. Not just quick strike reads, lol. And he had all the time in the world.

Played your type of man, didnt work. You act like that would have saved the day. laughable at best. Manning can pick apart ANY coverage if there is 0 pressure. What don't you understand? (Besides Borland not being the big of a drop off because he had the same amount of tackles as Willis)

They mixed it up a LOT did they not? Isn't that what is key as well? Maybe we should just play tight suffocating press all game with 0 pressure. Because it's not like it's Peyton frickin Manning or anything

Agreed...one poster noted that Mannings worst QB rating is against the blitz (it's still pretty good though) but it was considerably lower. That said, I doubt you want to rush Wilhoite and Borland in this game for added heat up the gut. Maybe Bethea off the edge?

I'm not suggesting this either but you'd literally, have to consider a 4-3 alignment (like Seattle x2) with a rotating pass rush on the edge and slash/destruptive inside DT's like Williams and Carradine if you plan on getting consistent pressure on Manning around 3 seconds (when most of the passes came out except for when he got bored...and sat down...ordered from Papa Johns...and made another commercial...and then thew).
chicken parmesan taste so good (our defense)
