of course it will be but there is no reason for them to come out flat esp if we get our guys back. after a bye , even if we come out a titch flat, they will regroup and win that game. if they lose that game, well we do not deserve to be in the playoffs but that is not going to happen

shirley, you must agree that it is really unacceptable to lose that game at home after a nice rest where we are closer to full strength than what we are now?

I have hope we can make the playoffs and the huge reason is mainly because Seattle is NOT 2013 Seattle. The Cards will eventually come back to Earth and that should leave the door open enough to compete for the division title. I think 11-5 wins the division this year and we have to hope that we win the tiebreakers. At the very worst, 10-6 will possibly get us in the dance. I feel like we are going to be in a similar situation as the Cards last year and need some help at the end. We could be the strongest and healthiest team by Week 17 but somehow get left out because of the Bear's loss.
As I have said before, let us hope that we get our guys back before time runs out!

JT's, I wholeheartedly agree with you that having starters out helps 2nd stringers get better, get experience. No question there. My point is that if we continue to have starters our, or lose more starters, forget this season. True it was Denver, but with the team we took up there, I don't think we would have beaten any of the elites in that game. Just too many guys missing at key positions. One or two guys, sure, no problem . But we were missing or in Brock's case had him back and he was way out of top form. The others, well, as mentioned, they need to have starters all around them. And in Denver that was not the case.
Also as Chaz noted, "if we come out flat..." we just don't have the ability to make any mistakes from here on out. We come out flat, that could end our season. Sure other teams are nicked up but 3 all pro LBs out, DBs, mostly from rotation, DL hurt, OL we have Staley and ? and that just isn't enough to win now. We have to get healthy (and ALdon) real quick or this season just passes us by. I have seen injuries before, but nothing like this. Of course, Jeff Fisher might want to get some sympathy too...he has done a great job in the worst case scenario.
Right now, OC, HC,DC, QB...they are doing the best with what they have...which isn't that much. I see one more OL carried off the field and ...well, I don't know what I will do, but watching that is painful...not to mention how they feel.
Talk about bye week...could not have come at a better time.

There are two ways to go about this:
Expect Sea/Az to lose more than the 49ers
or
Expect the 49ers to lose no more than 1 one game for the remaining of the season
Either way, the chances of the 49ers winning the division "as of today" is around 35-40%. When the players come back healthy, and able to play to their full potential, that would surely help the case.

Totally agree. Dallas and Philly, right now, look good. Then you have Detroit and Green bay. These 4 could very will be division winners and wild cards. Best chance we have I think is to win the division and be gauranteed a spot. Thats why I think this Rams game is crucial. The niners can't afford a loss that they are supposed to win. I think they will be allowed 1 more loss, maybe 2 max but even with 2 is probably borderline in the NFC this year.
Niners just need to get in someway or another. I think with the defense getting healthy, the LB corp back in form with the DL, they are going to be scary to play and wouldn't be surprised of the 6 teams left that they are the favorites to get to the SB.
Vernon and Crabtree NEED to step up their game in the 2nd half of the season. Those 2 are vital if they wanna get to the playoffs.

This x 10.
Too risky otherwise.
Putting our chances on the hope that other teams lose games so we have a better record is like us playing "not to lose instead of winning it."
We MUST win the division.

Well this is a similar situation to 2012. First game after the bye was a home game vs the rams. We came our flat and proceeded to get down 14-0, Alex got knocked out and Kaps been qb ever since.
I think Harbs and staff might remember this particular situation. I would be willing to bet the coaches mindset is the season starts with the ram home game.
