On the day of the game at each game coming up, we have to pay a weasel to slip the opposing team's Gatorade bucket heavy doses of sleeping pills... we might have a VERY slim chance of beating those teams.

We must improve ALL facets of our game if we want to even MAKE the playoffs.
Our offense has ZERO identity. Our defense is actually pretty good, but was paper thin in the redzone. But what is ruining the team right now, is how many penalties we gave up in two games. Whether they were fair or not, the guys need to lay off in any way they can to avoid the refs, because the penalties we made were absolute back-breakers.
The Boldin "hold", coulda been avoided if he just got in the way rather than grab the guy. Dial should never spear dive into a quarterback... in fact, nobody should even think poorly of the other team's quarterback, because that might be flagged too... they need to clean up the hits on QBs. Last but not least, treat WR's like poison. DO NOT FREAKING TOUCH THEM when they are running their routes... it's free yards at this point, and they should start practicing on running with them without touching them at all.
Bonus one, DBs: get your head around when you're covering someone. A couple of those redzone touchdowns from Cutler could have been picks if Ward looked back for the ball. He practically got hit between the 2 and the 5 on his back. Jesus...
But yeah, I'm not even thinking about playoffs until I see this team show me something. A win against the Cards would mean a lot, but they need to be consistent, stop the penalties and find an identity on offense. No more gimmicks.

We're 2 games into the season, tied w/Seattle at 1-1, one game behind the team we play in week 3 with a chance to get into a tie for 1st place. What do we need to do to win the division? Win more games than the other teams, period. This is way too early. IDK what anyone says, it's going to be SF and Sea battling it out to be the NFC's rep in the SB, we got plenty of time.

I agree. I was upset as much as many people were but it is still early. Seattle has already lost so early in the season. They are the SB champs and are still a very good team but I feel they've come down a notch to. I think they lose a couple more games this year. Also Harvin can get hurt at anytime. That guy hardly ever lasts a whole season. While its unfortunate but can also be fortunate that our injuries/suspensions are occurring now and not later. If the niners can find a way to win each game, ugly or not, it'll just make it that much sweeter when Aldon/Navarro/Glenn come back.
I look at it this way...the offense has 9 games to get itself together to be a scoring offense before the reinforcements come on D.

Losing to Chicago just means we're going to have to win a game that we're not "expected" to win! That game IMO is the Saints game! Bowman should be back by then with a game or two under his belt and we SHOULD HAVE won that game last year!!
However the Philly game NEXT week scares me! Making this week's game a MUST WIN!!

i know many people have given up and are slashing their wrists and its silly because this is a marathon and not a sprint
1. people gave up on our team three years ago when we lost to the ravens on thanksgiving and we came back
2. people gave up on the team, and I was right out there amongst the leaders , when we stumbled during our super bowl year and lost a couple late, but we pulled it together, got hot and made it to the super bowl
3. people really gave up after 1-2 last year,
until this team stops coming back and has some four or give game losing skid, I believe, despite losses to some of our people, this team is at their best when things seem to be at their worst and people have picked against them. they will be the under dog this weekend, the pundits will breathlessly proclaim we will lose , we will be finished and JH is on his way to michigan. if the players set around and feel sorry for themselves after sunday night, then they deserve what they get on sunday but I do not think that will happen,,,,, actually i think the cards are setting themselves up for a beating just like the over rated vikings did vs the patriots

Each season is different, last year the Seahawks would've caught some break to beat the Bolts last week. I remember last year when the Colts went right through us in the third game of the season. I thought the sky was falling. The season is a journey with its' ups and downs. Harbaugh's 49er teams find there stride after a few weeks. As far as expectations, Kap has to emerge and the team must find a pass rusher until the troops return.

It starts this week... to win the division..
1) STAY HEALTHY ALL YEAR
2) you can not lose a game when the opponent spots you 14 pts and above!!!
3) you can not have more than 4 penalties per game (see Harbaugh's year 1)
4) you need to bring your A++ game and know that every team is now bringing their A game because you're a contender
5) you need to know your strenght, (running game) use the honest approach (we're running up your throat and stop us if you can) instead of cute gimmick plays.
6) give only Kap certain plays that he can audible from

The way I have looked at this season from the beginning is that we must be 5-2 or better going into the bye to win the west. I am penciling in the Denver game as a loss because it's a short week road game with no pass rush (might get a 50 spot hung on us). So that means we have to win our next 4 vs AZ PHLY KC STL to win the west. We do that and then take losses at NO and SEA and we will be 12-4 with a 5-1 division record.
