Which combination of WR do you think should (not will) make the team?

Usually the most silly topics on webforums get the most attention. This topic isn't silly but the OP and other comments are. If we let Stevie Johnson and Lloyd go they'll end up in the NFC west or on a NFC rival (Carolina). I'll be PISSED if that happens but it isn't going to happen. The Rams need WR's. Seattle would probably go after Johnson. Lloyd would likely end up in Carolina for a hefty payday.

Heck, if the Rams picked up both Johnson and Lloyd they'd be in this fight.

I see you stated that Lloyd be kept over SJ because of the lack of positive reports from camp regarding SJ. Look at the body of work that SJ has put together in the past 4 seasons as well as the skillset he will bring to the offense. He is a man coverage buster all by himself, and excels at winning at the line of scrimmage to beat press alignment. This will be valuable against SEA and ARI.
Excellent point. I see why his acquisition might be considered the most significant off season move of any team.

I don't think this is a silly topic. The OP just opened the discussion as Lloyd or SJ when it should have been Osgood or Lloyd. It's an interesting topic because WR depth is something new to this roster.

Well those that think Johnson gets cut are crazy. Might have to say the same for those that think Lloyd gets cut. As much as the offense is going to NEED those 2 guys because of the questions on D. Matt Barrows just said on the KNBR, he even expects that the passing game is going to have to carry this team at least to start the season because we just don't know how this D is going to gel without Aldon and Bow and the questionable secondary.

Maiocco is a great beat writer, but he's absolutely nuts if he thinks there is even a small chance SJ doesn't make the team. Maybe it's a slow day at the office and he had to write something to get traffic.

For those of you who are big patton fans, I have a question. Sometime last yr, he was in the game, I think playing in close, probably slot altho he could have been at RB for all I know. But when the ball was snapped, the defender broke thru, came to patton, picked him up and literally slung him to the ground. Anybody recall seeing that? He was somewhere on the left side of the line, and I thot slot. It was an amazing play and I wondered , was he really that fragile, that small, or that light? Whatever, it surprised the heck out of me, and I wondered just what he was doing playing with these big guys. Anybody?

okay, and your point is? he got thrown one time, last year... he's a big boy, he's in the pros now, he's not the smallest receiver ever... he'll be fine. the man can play WR.

The most memorable Patton play for me was the incredibly clutch catch near the end of the Cardinals game when he ran down the right sideline and then went up and over the corner for an important reception. That should have demonstrated to every Niner fan that Patton is a guy who belongs and can make plays.

I'm hoping we keep him to develop but also keep Lloyd this year for a SB run. Meaning...Osgood would be gone if I were in charge. I know he has been great on ST's and gave us good defensive field position on a few plays but that can be replaced and Osgood is aging. He's 34 going on 35 soon. And ya, that play was clutch.
