I want Harbs to come off the sidelines. He still has the fire in him and can still wing it.
But on a more serious note, The Hags are going to have to cut a young, mobile QB that can at least run if he can't get the job done in the air.
As a QB, one of those guys could provide a little insight to the Hags 2014 game too.

Gabbert has been OVER throwing most passes. His footwork has been horrible, which can be fixed.
Go find that Bill Walsh video with Joe Montana (after his playing days) showing footwork, timing, and 3-5-7 step drops.
This is something that ONLY comes through repetition, repetition, repetition.
I remember the days when Sing would run a play one time. Walsh would run that play again again and again until it was perfect. Until the ball didn't hit the ground.
Blaine hasn't had had the reps in our system. He needs to be broken down, and rebuilt. Like bootcamp. Maybe he is in process. But, he has the physical tools.
JJ is just run and throw on the run. That won't work in the regular season if he has to play. Period. McBlowchunks? I wish we kept Daniels but oh well. If we sign someone else, meh.

This simply isn't true. The entire point of having a viable backup is to win one or two games if the starter goes down with a non season ending injury. There are plenty of teams in the NFL who could keep playoff hopes alive with their backup playing in 3 or 4 games. Especially if the team has a solid D and running game. Packers managed it last season because the NFC North is weak but even in the current NFC West a viable backup would give us fighting chance if Kap went down for 2 or 3 games. If Kap had a season ending injury or an injury making him miss 7 or 8 games forget about it but we're talking 2, 3 or 4 game injury here. Something where we would only need to squeeze out one or two wins. Can Gabbert do this? Not unless he improves. They should break out the old Walsh playbook with him, short quick passe in stride. Anyway, if Kap goes down for 3 games we can count those as losses at this point. In our division that would be the nail in the coffin.

Harbaugh has not had much time to work with Gabbert. He's the QB Whisperer, right? Give him some time.

After rewatching Gabbert against the Broncs I think he can be a serviceable backup. He just needs time and the right setting. He has the 2nd and ideally Kaep doesn't get injured and he will have the 1st.

Gotta go with Gabbert, we have 2 million invested and he's got the arm. Just needs to put it all together. Looking around the league, I'd love for us to pick up Connor Shaw if he's cut by the Browns.

Gabbert needs to develop timing with his receivers, his accuracy will eventually improve once he is familiar with the system, but as of right now, just be glad #7 is healthy and ready to go , hopefully we wont need sunshine this season

Johnson. He's very close to Harbaugh, could be a solid career backup for years here (remember, he hasn't gotten any snaps with the 1's yet d/t us giving Gabbert the benefit of the doubt), plus his game mirrors CK's and we wouldn't have to change the game plan with him in there compared to Gabbert AND he'd be much cheaper. His issue has always been mental but as long as he is here and can continue to nail down our system, we can wins some games with him if needed. Gabbert? No chance in hell.
