2013 - 56.7% (11 games without crabs, and fight foot injury)
2013 - 61.7% (5 games with crabs)
I would suspect that he will approach and probably exceed the 62% number this season if WR core stays healthy. A lot of opinions of kaep are being skewed by the 11 game stretch he had fighting a foot injury and only have one true nfl WR. Now kaep still has some work to do in refining his game, but when he has had more than one nfl WR at his disposal he had shown to be a qb that approaches 62% completion and a qb rating near 100.
Totally agree. He can definitely complete 62%, possibly even surpass that.
Here's his completion % throwing to some of his receivers last year, per pro-football-reference:
Anquan Boldin -- 65.9%
Vernon Davis -- 61.9%
Michael Crabtree -- 57.6%
Bruce Miller -- 68.6%
Frank Gore -- 59.3%
Vance McDonald -- 42.1%
Kyle Williams -- 44.4%
Mario Manningham -- 39.1%
Quinton Patton -- 60.0%
Jonathan Baldwin -- 33.3%
Marlon Moore -- 25.0%
Hmmm, I'm noticing a trend here... The best players have the highest cmp % rate, and the bad players have a really low cmp % rate. Shocking!!
It's interesting that his cmp % to Crabtree was sub-60%, but his overall % still increased during this 5-game stretch because the rest of the field was open up for others. Multiple quality pass-catchers makes things easier on everyone. Again, shocking!!
Conclusion: Good players catch the ball, bad players don't. Certain players were clearly dragging down Kap's accuracy #'s, whether it be an inability to get open, or just flat out dropping the ball. McDonald was a rookie, so I give him a pass. Kyle Williams completely face-planted, hence his release mid-season. Manningham struggled to regain his form after serious injury. Baldwin and Moore were trash.
This year we've surrounded Kap with a multitude of weapons. Everywhere you look there are legit, reliable pass-catchers, and I'm betting McDonald makes a big leap year 2. Kap is going to tear it up this year.
