If it's hot enough do the Niners go back to wearing whites @ home in the preseason? the old dynasty teams used to do it, even @ blustery candlestick...

Just some thoughts and what I'm looking to see.
Levi's Stadium - Will be taking it all in, how everything looks and how smoothly everything goes. We have waited so long for this moment, pre-season or not.
WR's - I want to see more of Ellington at WR and continue to get reps at PR/KR. Wouldn't hurt to give Cox a few as the backup PR/KR. Patton has to start stepping up I don't think he's in danger of being cut but he will get buried and forgot if he doesn't do anything this year and Lloyd does well. If Lloyd can go wouldnt hurt to start and get him some reps. Johnson drew a few PR penalties and had a catch not too worried about him. Don't need to see Boldin or Crabtree. With Jacobs out keep an eye out for Reed and Wylie. These guys could do what Jacobs did last year in pre-season. There just isn't room on our team but could make another team. Jacobs as well but now that he is on IR he will come back and give it another shot next year. Of course it would take us losing Crabtree and Lloyd (if makes the team this year) and not drafting a WR before the late rounds which is a long shot. So Lloyd starting... Ellington and Patton getting a lot of work.
TE - More McDonald but it's clear he is the #2 and should have a much bigger impact this year but the more balls he gets the more comfortable he gets. If he can improve his hands he can be one of the better #2's in the league if not better than some #1's. He will get open and find holes, he should be an underrated weapon this year. I think Carrier will steal the #3 job from Celek. I'd like to see more Carrier as we know what Celek brings to the table. McDonald and Carrier
RB - Hyde starting and getting a bunch of carries. Wish Lattimore and James were out there it's obvious Hampton and Smith won't be much longer. No need to see Gore.
QB - A few series for Kap but mostly Gabbert and Johnson. Maybe rotate series with those 2 so they both get to work with the starters/backups. Bethel Thompson dont really care to see he could be cut now but is just a camp arm. I'd like to see Gabbert and Johnson get most of the work.
OL - Looney getting a lot of work. Martin at center getting a lot of work if ready to go as well as Kilgore. Seymour/Bykowski/Phillip/Martin... need to see all these guys get major work as we know what Snyder brings to the table. Mainly Kilgore, Martin, Looney and last OL spot players.
NT - Ian Williams to start and get some work also try Dial, TJE, etc early on at NT we need to find our backup.
DL - We are set with McDonald, Williams, Smith, Carradine, Dial, TJE.... let's see a lot from Dobbs/Okoye/Purcell for a chance at a 7th DL spot and if any are worthy of keeping or just go with 6. Obviously, more work for Carradine as well.
OLB - We know what we have in Brooks, Smith, Skuta... lots of work for Lemonier and Lynch
ILB - Let Borland start to see if he is worthy of being considered to start with Willis or if it's Wilhoite's job. We know what we get in Wilhoite. Moody/Skov get plenty of time as we are looking to see who will get that 4th ILB spot
CB - Maybe a few series for Culliver and Cox but mostly Ward, Dontae Johnson, Cook and Morris.
S - When Ward isn't playing CB he should be getting time at FS/SS. He should be our backup for both and maybe our 3/4 cb this year. He needs a lot of time. Spillman, Dahl, Ventrone we know what we get for them they don't need much time but out of those 3 Spillman should get the most time at S.

The game is supposed to live on NFL network but the west coast got blacked out last week. Does anyone understand the NFL network's blackout policy? More specifically can anyone tell me whether it will be live in Portland Oregon.

Well done.
This should be a very very good test for our young secondary and the DL probably won't get much work at all. So, will Fangio play more tight, press this time or continue to play all off coverage like in the Ravens game? So this game should be all about coverage sacks and pressures and INT's and knock-downs from the secondary d/t pressure from the rush.
The other thing I want to see is the entire OL playing well in pass protection. Iupati and Kilgore were poor last game. Our second string unit with Bykowski and Seymour was slightly better overall compared to Staley and Martin (both played well though). We need Martin to step up and Seymour to continue to show "arrow up."
I have big concerns about the C position so please Kilgore, show some damn strength/push!
I expect Hampton to have a much better game including in pass protection.
I want to see MUCH better coverage from the two ILB's in Wilhoite and esp. Borland (burned badly).
And finally, I want to see continue to see McCray play an entire half...hopefully the first half with the first string as long as possible. We need him to beat our Dahl/Ventrone.
Want to see Johnson play consistently and STOP making mental errors that kill us/his chances to win the #2.
Finally, I want there to be NO doubt about Ellington stealing the PR duties.
Injuries are derailing the other players I want to see.

Better play from Gabbert
Need to get an idea of who will be our starting NT
More work for Ellington and Patton
Strong consistent play from Looney and J. Martin
Strong showings from Tank, Lynch and Lemonier ....we need these guys to step it up so our pass rush is strong while Aldon is out

Yeah, Portland was blacked-out...they replayed the hall of fame game.
The reasoning NFL network gave on twitter was that it was blacked-out in "like regions." from twitter responses it seemed to be blacked-out across the east and west coasts.

I think Kilgore's weakness will be push in the run game more than the pass rush aspect. He really hasn't beefed up that much at all since he has been here. He is one of those guys who is smart and can make the calls I'm just not sure he has the strength and athletic ability. Hopefully Martin beats him out this year but probably will end up being next year. Agree, Wilhoite and Borland's weaknesses will be coverage... they aren't the fastest guys but we are use to Bowman and Willis who are 2 of the fastest in the NFL. I'm worried that will hurt us this year until Bowman gets back, maybe we will keep Willis in coverage this year although with no Bowman I'd kind of like to see him patrolling the middle like he use to. Agree, I think it's best for Johnson to step up and show he can be a long term backup for this team. That or I wish Harbaugh would just draft someone in say round 2 or 3 and develop them. Kind of sick of him playing with these toys and constantly changing guys which does us no good. He's trying to fix a lot of broken toys too and I think he could maybe do it if he had more time with them and could work 1 on 1 but he's got too much going on being the HC. If he was QB coach probably could fix guys like Gabbert or McCoy but he's got too much else on his plate. I already think McCray is a better safety than Dahl and Ventrone I want to see him light it up on ST to make one or both of those guys obsolete and save us some money. I loved his closing speed and he can pack a punch. I'm ready to move on from Hampton but if Lattimore ends up on IR he might have a shot at 4th RB but then we probably just go with 3 (Gore, Hyde, James). I'd like to see some of these younger cheaper guys step up and knock some of these more expensive (although they arent making that much) guys like Dahl, Snyder, Ventrone, Martin, Osgood, etc off the roster. Not all but some of them. New stadium and we have been going through a youth movement with a lot of our guys leaving in FA for more money so that should continue this year with some more new blood.

Great post!
- So far, this is spot on in my assessment as well although against the Ravens interior (granted, those dudes are experienced AND enormous) he was getting blown back into the backfield on pass protection as well. But we won't play the Ravens every game either.
- This is something that stood out to me; the lack of feel for dropping back into the proper zones inside and Borland getting burned bad in coverage. Willis' only weakness is his coverage which is why Bowman took over that role (and he's exceptional). So overall, I agree, Willis and Wilhoite may struggle here some until they gel as a unit and get the timing down; both have the athleticism and speed and ability though. If you watched the Ravens game you'd see how many times Morris was in the slot and he had outside containment and all the passes were going inside and there was no LB/S there flodding those zones and making plays on the ball. That will need to be cleared up soon and these are the easiest passes for a QB.
Agree, I think it's best for Johnson to step up and show he can be a long term backup for this team. That or I wish Harbaugh would just draft someone in say round 2 or 3 and develop them. Kind of sick of him playing with these toys and constantly changing guys which does us no good. If he was QB coach probably could fix guys like Gabbert or McCoy but he's got too much else on his plate. - No question about this one. Josh, earn it and we'll give you a contract for 3 or 4 years and be done with it. Haraugh can then take his time and develop a rookie for the future.
I already think McCray is a better safety than Dahl and Ventrone I want to see him light it up on ST to make one or both of those guys obsolete and save us some money. I loved his closing speed and he can pack a punch. - I'm leaning this was already myself after watching his film work. I'm pleased with him!
I'm ready to move on from Hampton but if Lattimore ends up on IR he might have a shot at 4th RB but then we probably just go with 3 (Gore, Hyde, James). - I have us keeping just three as well but I have a feeling Hampton is going to play much much better this game and get back to his usual good play in the preseason.
I'd like to see some of these younger cheaper guys step up and knock some of these more expensive (although they arent making that much) guys like Dahl, Snyder, Ventrone, Martin, Osgood, etc off the roster. Not all but some of them. - Of this group, in my 53, I only have Martin and Osgood making the team.
New stadium and we have been going through a youth movement with a lot of our guys leaving in FA for more money so that should continue this year with some more new blood. - Bring on the new era!
