I'm still skeptical. Harbaugh doesn't like to show his hand. I hope he's telling the truth, but he's not been known for his "forthrightness" when it comes to injury and players. Also not sure what his definition of long- term is.

I might be a genius.
Three best player on the team? I think so! Hurry back Pat and NaV!

Love the guy, in the discussion of Top-10 49ers of all time. Will be 30 next yr making Top 5 ILB money, been injured 2 yrs in a row now. Borland pretty much looks like a "sure thing" linebacker playing on a rookie contract for 3 more yrs. If Bowman shows he can come back from the knee 2015 might be P-willy's last yr. Hate to say it, but its a business decision.
If we can pay Boone to suck we can pay Willis to start and Borland to learn.
Borland's learning period was over after week 7. He's making a case for Defensive Rookie of the yr each week.
Willis had surgery for the toe he played through for two years. He's not injury prone for a MLB.

I agree he's been durable over his career.
Here's a question: how can we get Bow, Pat, and T-Rex on the field all at the same time?

People hate it obviously, but it's basically a no-brainer at this point. It will save us 8 mil, with very little dead money. We will be over the cap next year, and we have to sign guys like Aldon next year.

Would have to be next year's Pro-Bowl game.

crabs, brooks, iupati, maybe Vernon could all be gone. Willis is not going anywhere. Imagine if bowman gets hurt next year. Would you rather have Pat and Borland or Borland and ?....?

I think we shock the world and play 46 defense. Get the pressure on the passer happy teams but have the speed at LB to not lose anything in coverage.

Crabs and Iupati already have plane tickets out of here. We are over the cap next year even if we DON'T resign those two players.

Vernon is still under contract. He will give us 2 million in dead money if we release him, and save 5 million. His backup has done little to nothing, so I don't see much leverage there.

Willis will cost us 8 million. We have three linebackers. Borland costs us 700k against the cap. It's not about who is better, it's about how much bang for the buck the team is getting. That's all that matters in the salary cap era. Is Willis 10X better than Borland?.... No. Not even close, in fact, well, ok, I won't say it, but I will say that Willis has been playing hurt, is turning 30, and nobody is playing better than Borland at the moment.

To my understanding we are about $600K under the 2015 salary cap at this point.

Next year we can save:

- about $7.724M against the cap by restructuring Kaps deal

- about $6.754M against the cap by extending Aldon

- about $1.7M against the cap by cutting Dahl

- we can also save about $4,102,500 IF we trade Brooks
