Like last year, they may have more talent than they can keep. Are they using the PUP to stash a couple guys and buy time?
There's no doubt that Thomas, Millard and Reaser will hit IR and redshirt this year. But going PUP on Bo, Williams, Lynch and Ramsey may allow them to evaluate people longer.

The PUP is and has been Trent's farm system. Only that can explain how trent has been able to assemble so much top tier talent. This yr we got the best RB, the best FB, we got hopefully a starting DB, we got 3 other DBs I bet 2 or 3 ultimately start, we got an all pro slot WR....we probably got a starting C which is a huge upgrade, probably a starting rotation LB...cripes, just exactly how much better can a guy do? On top of that we got 3 or 4 guys who could break into rotation from last yrs PUP...Kinda like 15-16 draft picks this yr.
Sad thing is at cut time our cuts are going to start elsewhere, but those remaining are going to be some hosses.

Agree BIG time!
Smart move. I think he'll also do it w/one of our receivers until one gets injured or needs a break and then they'll trade places. - Just a guess on my part.
Side bar question - Is there alimit on how many players can be on IR?

I think the 49ers are running laps around the NFL. It's really unfortunate a few flash in the pan teams won the SB in this time span. The Giants and Ravens fell off big time, and I believe the Seahawks are in for a rude awakening as well. But these teams got their rings, and that pisses me off. We've been the better run organization year-after-year. It's time to win this f**king thing already.

We are stockpiling talent left and right. It's a really good feeling

While drafting at the end of the draft. We're just not looking for our rookies to contribute significantly in year 1, and if they do (Reid) ... Great!!

Well put, Sofa....and in each and every case, a non call or a lucky play helped them win....
1) NY game....non call on fumble late in game would have given Niners a late FG opportunity...and a likely win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moFbidNll28
2) Baltimore game (SB)...non calls on kickoff return (blatant holding on 2 different players), pass interference (end of game) to name just 2.

3) Seattle game....just watch this video

This year, the NFL owes the Niners...big time...

We've been so painfully close!! I have to believe we're going to get it done. We haven't won it yet, but with the way this organization is ran, it's only a matter of time. The law of averages says it's going to happen.

Between the I.R. list and TC, Baalke, despite a stacked roster, has built himself a tremendous farm system and is way ahead of the game. The perfect example of this was Okoye last year where he had a mysterious knee injury on the final pre season game which allowed him to film study all year, learn the game, work out, diet, still be mentored by Justin Smith/Ray McDonald, etc. Now we can watch this TC to see how well this farm system is developing its players.
