The immaculate reception has some dirt on it...some players say it hit the ground....and the footage is cut off right where he caught.
The catch no doubt about it.....the white guy jumped ten feet in the air

The catch, and it's not even close.
It was the most pivotal play in NFL history, starting the greatest dynasty the league has ever seen. That dynasty changed the way football was to be played, both offensively and defensively.

I'd say it was the catch hands down, but you never know with these polls. NFL fans as a whole seem to rank the 70s steelers higher than the 80s-90s 49ers. Not that it really matters, but America's game had the 72 Dolphins, 85 Bears, and I think the 79 steelers ahead of the 89 49ers when they unveiled the top 20.
I think one of the biggest misconceptions is that the Immaculate reception led to a super bowl win, which it did not.
Anyhow, I'm obviously biased, but hopefully the catch wins this thing.

Like seeing the Niners whoops Seattle 65% to 35% in that bracket. More proof Niners history>Seattle present.

If you ask a Steeler fan, he would answer the immaculate reception. If you ask any niner fan, they would say the catch. If you're an educated and non biased football fan, you're answer probably would be the catch because that kicked start our dynasty. While the immaculate reception was a great play, it only happened during the divisional round of the playoffs and the steelers lost the following week to the undefeated Dolphins. The Steelers didnt jump start their dynasty until two year later.

This, of course!
On a side note doe, if we would've went on to win the SB instead of getting the **** knocked out of the playoffs, it (The Catch / Immaculate Reception) would be a legitimate debate.

In the grand scheme of things the Catch had more of an impact of following events than the Immaculate Reception did and like stated it wasn't without controversy. There is no guess whether Clark caught the ball and we all know what the 49ers went on to do in the Super Bowl that year. One one adds in the magnitude of the fact that the game was the NFC Champ game than the impact of the Catch is much greater.

And the executiom was amazing.
The immaculate reception was pure luck and a fluke.
