All things being equal, Martin is the better talent and will eventually be the starting C. It just won't happen this year because he's a rook and was out with mono, so he missed some much needed time on the field.
I don't know if it will hurt him, us, or both if he's moved to G this year. We need depth there, tho Martin seems to be a true center. I don't see us swapping centers midyear if/when Martin does come along. I think Kilgore would really have to play poorly for that to happen simply because there's a lot of chemistry between the center and QB and the rest of the line. You don't often see centers replaced in that situation. So for now, I think it makes sense for Martin to get most of his reps at guard and then work on becoming the starting center next season.
Wish we had some more depth along the line. And Snyder really sucks.

How about the better player gets the job?
I think - given some time - Martin will take the center position. But not right away. He was injured a bit and so that has slowed things a bit for him. Still 3 more preseason games and Boone might also end his holdout - maybe. But I like our O-line depth. I still remember chilo, and thank god those days are past. Kwami 2.0 is giving me flashbacks though.
