So, this is how we handle aggression now? We just seek to trade away a weapon on offense? I say we stand strong with him, and sooner or later, he will come to camp. And as soon as he makes a big catch or great block during the season, we will all forgive his Juice and Jerky hawkin' ass.

No way you trade VD. A 30 year old TE with that much mileage on his tires will not garner more than one 2nd rounder, if that. Remember he's been run blocking versus DEs and LBs for a long time now. His body has taken a beating throughout the years. He's not just running around catching passes like JGraham. That 2nd rounder is nothing compared to what he brings to the field as the best run blocking TE and the team's only proven vertical threat. There's a reason he 'disappears' against SEA. It's because they understand he is the biggest, and only deep play threat, so they give him the attention he deserves.

It's a possibility...while Harbaugh wants Vernon's production, he surely doesn't want a distraction, which is what he's becoming. It's also a possibility as we get closer to camp, Vernon may finally wake up and realize Baalke's not going to budge toward getting him the extension he's looking for...not at his current salary and with 2 yrs left on his contract. Baalke's playing this from a position of strength...so maybe Vernon will blink. If he plays hardball, he'll surely miss his big paychecks...so it's up to him how "his brand" is affected.

from the link, it looks like more want to sell than buy his shares at the moment. So clearly he's getting bad advice from somewhere.
Looks like a scam.

Its just a June minicamp. I don't expect him to miss much training camp and certainly no games since that would cost him a lot of money. He's under contract for two more years and his salary ranks 3rd among tight ends even though (ironically) he's not been a reliable 3rd down option.
Alex Boone has a better argument but he has two years left on his contract as well. So unless hes planning to destroy his career by sitting out the next two seasons his hold out will end during or before training camp as well.

These players are holding out during a time when the consequences for doing so are minimal. Well, relatively speaking since Vernon foolishly forfeited a $200,000 bonus for missing the June camp. After he retires and no longer has 7.3 million in game checks coming in every year he will look back and regret that decision to hold out.
