The pass rushing depth looks great on paper. It's going to be interesting to see what we do on passing downs.
Obviously Aldon will be matched up on the LT. Ahmad or Carradine matched up on the RT. Carradine has the versatility to rush from the inside as well, perhaps he could spell J. Smith and McDonald occasionally.
Lemonier applied good pressure last year, should keep him in the mix. Skuta is solid. Lynch has monster upside.
We have a lot of weapons at our disposal.

I think if we do our scouting right and exploit specific players weakness as well as team tendency's we should have a little poison for everyone. I hope carradine can spell McDonald or Justin . I like the sound of lemonade and Carradine as depth behind mcdonald and brooks. And then Lynch( depending on position he plays) and skuta and TjE as depth on the other side.Should be fierce

Since we spent so little of our draft capital on DL, I am not looking for a big change in pass rush effectiveness. We're sitting on a lot of ???'s. Carradine - hasn't seen his first snap in competition. Okoye -- will he make the active roster for a few games? Unknown. Will Lynch make the team? Unknown.ALdon -- how many games will he play -- 8? 12? 16? Unknown. Will Williams come back 100%? Unknown. Our best ILB blitzer -- will he even play next year? Unknown. Justin + Raymac have one more year of wear on the treads.
It's reaonable to be optimistic on some of these questions but not all.
Good news is our coverage game looks to be better, and we still have hella depth at LB.
A little extra insurance here like Tuitt in the 2nd round would have looked good me personally.

That makes no sense. Had we drafted tuitt your list would look exactly the same with the addition of "tuitt: unknown rookie". You're forgetting lemmonier who filled in decently last year and now has a full year and off-season under his belt.Originally posted by brodiebluebanaszak:Since we spent so little of our draft capital on DL, I am not looking for a big change in pass rush effectiveness. we didn't draft DL this year because we literally have 3 guys already being added to the team that weren't here last year. Tank Carradine, Q.Dial and Ian Williams (yes IW was here for one game & hurt week 2 but you get the point) & we didn't lose anybody.
The team is stacked on the DL
DE: Smith, McDonald, Carradine, TJE, Dobbs, Ramsey
NT: Dorsey, Williams, Dial
Not to mention in nickle situations when we go with 4 down lineman we see Aldon, Brooks, Lemonier lineup as DE's. And I'm not positive about his 3-4 spot but Lych fits into this category as a DE when we go with 4 down lineman also. We didn't draft DL because it's one of the most stacked positions on the roster.

We drafted Kaleb Ramsey in the 7th round. So, we did draft DL in the last draft.
Lynch is listed as a LB, and as somebody mentioned, he was given a linebacker's number.
It seems pretty clear that the team sees him as a linebacker.

Nope. Lemonier is part of our "hella depth" at LB.
I think Williams has a lot of potential, and will really help us if he is healthy. But, I don't see a big bump there for us because Dorsey did a really good job for us all last year.
I don't see Dial as being a difference maker on the pass rush.
I don't see us needing extra special help at OLB, which is where Lynch seems targeted to play.
I think if we had Tuitt, we would have a young (21) kid who can maybe share some snaps for Ray and Smith with Tank.

...I don't want to argue about one draft guy versus another. Just saying a high round pick spent on DL would make me optimistic about our pass rush prospects being better than last year.

Ray Mac, Cowboy, Dorsey, Lemon, Skuta, Brooks, Aldon ....throw in Tank and a motivated Lynch , I'd say we have a mean group of fellas to sic on the QB

We definately have one of the better units in the league. What we really need is to guarantee Fangio's pension, so he's got nothing to lose, so he'll let the dogs out.
That can increase our production 20-35% right there with what we have now -- lots more than any rookie can add.

I love the potential of this team's pass rush, but of course it comes down to how many games Smith will be suspended for. I'm hoping he doesn't get more than 2-3 games.
