I'll be pretty pist off if this happens...
Only if he wants to max at $5M / year. The Cowboys already have a number one making number one money. Crabtree would be lucky to get $6M with the Cowboys. He has Raider or Browns written all over.

Crabtree ......Deion sanders will return to advise him on contract negotiations again
...but this time, we will lose him
...Just call it a hunch, we didn't trade for Stevie Johnson just to be a one year rental, he is insurance in the event Crabtree bolts ...and I agree with posts stating other teams will overpay for his services , this is true ...Crabtree will want top WR money , and our front office wont be boxed in like last time ...Crabs is a goner ...but I hope his last year is a productive one that nets us #6

It's Crabtree. Hopefully though our plan is to let Iupati go and use that money to strike a deal with Crabs. It sure seems like our plan is to let Iupati go after this year based on how the draft played out.

to me its iupati. we've added a few lineman prospects this offseason to prepare for it. after seeing what levtire got from the titans on the open market i'm expecting iupati to break that. i think we'd pay for crabtree up to a certain price point. i dont think we're doing the same with iuapti.

In my opinion we can let all of those free agents walk but I would try and keep Spillman, Cox, maybe Cooks (depending on how he does this year) and Skuta (although I think he gets bumped off the squad by either Lynch or Breslin). The wild card would be Hunter. I keep Hunter if we trade James, Gore retires and Lattimore doesn't recover as we had hoped.

I think the plan is to let both of them go. We'll get mid-round compensation picks for both.
One thing I don't understand is how some people think that any of these rookies or acquisitions (Brandon Thomas, Marcus Martin, Bruce Ellington, Stevie Johnson, etc) provide us with leverage in negotiations with Iupati/Crabtree. It doesn't provide us leverage. Just because we added all of those players doesn't mean that Iupati/Crabtree are suddenly worth less on the open market. They're worth less
to us, yes, but that just makes it even more likely that they're going to test free agency, where their value is the same as it was before our acquisitions. To me "leverage" implies bargaining power. All of these rookies (and Johnson) provide us with insurance, but they sure as heck do not make it any easier for us to retain anyone.

If I had it my way, I'd franchise Crabtree, do my best to re-sign Iupati and Kaepernick those two will give the discount.

Bargaining power leans towrads who has the upper hand. B/c we have viable and proven replacements for both Crabtree and Iupati, we hold the bargaining power. If we did NOT have Stevie Johnson or a replacement for Iupati, then their agent can rape us knowing we are completely dependent upon us signing them. The "market" will set the price, I agree...but WE set our own as well. You'll get a very fair contract here and be taken care of...and you'll get to play for a perennial Superbowl-caliber team but if you want more, you can go to the Raider, Browns, Bills, Bucs, etc...and we'll be just fine.

remember when we let a guy like justin smiley go because we apparently werent the type of team to invest heavily into the guard position? i know theres different folks in the front office now, but i just have a hard time seeing them sink 40-50 mil into a iupati contract. hes a good player with some flaws who could probably approach tackle money on the open market.

Anyone else afraid that Crabtree might stay in the NFC West and go to the Rams who could really use a true #1 receiver or Iupati go to any one of the other NFC West teams that needs a very good guard?

no cus even if an nfc west team doesnt sign crabtree or iupati, they'd sign or draft someone who is pretty close in talent. its a tough division with 4 good front offices and theres going to be talented players added to the division going forward. whether its a former 49er or not doesnt really matter to me.

I think it will be Crabtree, especially if we open up the offense more this season and he puts up good numbers. We will still be a run first team, and I don't see us breaking the bank for a WR.
I don't think Iupati will get as much interest as some people expect. Yes, he is a fantastic guard in our system. But he is a far better run blocker than pass blocker, and this is a passing league. I think the 49ers (and Seahawks) would value him more than the rest of the league.

If he gets the call from Jerry i bet he'd take less money just to be a Cowturd thats his dream to play for Dallas even if we offered more money he would jump ship without hesitation

I don't know if Crabtree will command all that much. Teams don't seem apt to overspend for non speedster WRs. Plus the diva thing, I just don't see him getting paid like a top tier WR. Mike Wallace really screwed up the WR pay scale. Thanks a lot Ireland.
