Brandon Thomas is an IR guy.

FB: Miller
WR: Crabtree, Boldin, S Johnson, Patton, Ellington, Osgood
TE: Davis, McDonald, Celek
OT: Staley, Davis, J Martin
OG: Iupati, Boone, Looney
C: Kilgore, M Martin

DE: J Smith, McDonald, Carradine, Jerod-Eddie
NT: I Williams, Dorsey, Dial
ILB: Willis, Wilhoite, Moody, Borland

CB: Culliver^, Brock, Wright, D Johnson, Cook^

K: Dawson
P: Lee
LS: McDermott
PR: James

^If Culliver is suspended I think Cook will remain on the roster until he comes back.

PUP: Bowman
IR: Thomas, Millard, Reaser, Breslin

By the way the NFL needs to change the roster limit number to 55 and make LS and PR/KR/ST a official position.

Would not have any problem with that roster. But, IMHO, Faulkner and Ramsey won't be safe on the PS.

I think they'd be willing to take that chance on both.

LOL...I know, he's horrible, but this staff seems to like him for some reason.

On second thought, maybe they get rid of Dahl now that Ward is on the roster, and Acker makes the team as a 6th CB.

CB: Culliver, Brock, Wright, DJohnson, Acker, Ward (nickel/backup S)
S: Reid, Bethea, Spillman, Ventrone
Really hoping our corners pan out. Looks scary on paper

Who's returning punts? Seems like Ellington is gonna get a shot, but I don't see anyone else who can. I think Cox sticks just for that reason, but then again that's what I thought last year and they cut him even when LMJ was our only punt returner.

Agreed, I don't know if people remember the last time we saw Cully, he was losing the SB for us since it was so long ago.

And the more I think about it, the more it looks like Ghost is right and Snyder will stick, I'm pretty sure we always go with 9 OL. The 9th guy has always been someone who never plays like Al Netter (I think, can't really recall). Can anyone remember otherwise?

1. Football is a people business. You don't do people dirty like that.

2. Assuming LMJ is cut, if you cut Frank Gore, that leaves Kendall Hunter as the only guy on the roster with any NFL experience.

3. There's no way Lattimore or Hyde will know and/or be prepared to execute all the pass pro and blocking schemes by Week 1.

So yeah, that's not happening.

Looks good. I'd just move Kory Faulker to the practice squad, losing Jewel Hampton. The team will probably only carry two QB's on the active roster.

Then, re-add your favorite CB or DE.

I think you made a good call cutting Brandon Lloyd, only because if the 49ers get in injury trouble at the position again, they should be safe in being able to call Lloyd back and adding him back to the 53. There's a chance another team will try to do the same if someone gets injured, but who really knows how good Lloyd is at this point anyway.

Same with Cox. The Niners played that game last year... releasing Cox and then bringing him back when they needed him. So that seems right.

Good analysis though.
Trust me, I went back and forth on keeping 2 or 3 QB's. But I just don't trust Gabbert as the sole backup to Kaep. Plus, I honestly don't think Faulkner will be safe on the PS. JH wasn't the only coaching staff eying him.

He's an UDFA. It's doubtful he'll make any 53-man.

Ellington and Acker (had the same number of punt returns in college as LMJ; 14).

LOL. Well, the point is, LMJ didn't do a lot of punt returning in college and he turned out ok (10th in the league last year in PR average).

So yeah, that's not happening.

NickSh49, usually you and I are in total agreement. Here, it appears we are not. Please know I am not advocating for the release of Gore, I am merely addressing the elephant in the room that there is a possibility that he is released. Of the above reasons, I think perhaps only #3 will keep Gore on the roster.

There are several reasons behind my thought process, but ultimately my two biggest reasons are:

1) Gore, Lattimore and Hyde are all three similar style running backs. They are redundant. It makes some sense to keep only two of them on the roster. Hunter and James are a different style and are change-of-pace backs. James has added value as a fairly decent punt returner. If Lattimore begins the season on the PUP list (not likely, but theoretically a possibility since he has come out and said he doesn't feel 100% yet) then there is no problem of having these three redundant running backs; however, as I just said, this isn't likely.

2) Gore has a lot of mileage and no longer has any burst off the line. I think it's only downhill from here. Frankly, I think there is a chance that both Hyde and Lattimore are better right now than Gore.

If they are better, I think the coaching staff needs to cut Gore. I think the chances of us cutting Gore is at about 20%.
