Pre-Camp 53 Roster Prediction

I like it a lot...I was thinking that while mine and others may have some differences, it's pretty crazy to think how much talent and depth is here no matter what the 53 ends up being. I've said it before, I don't even want to TRY to figure out the 46 from any of these 53's! The 53 is hard enough...

Agree and am somewhat amazed. Many ifs on this list but the team has been so accurate in it's analysis of player value that I'd be surprised if many did not come through and contribute eventually.

Ifs:
Lattimore--from injury
Carradine--from injury
Boone--holdout
Lynch--attitude
I Williams--from injury
Thomas--from injury
Gabbert--high pick discarded
J Martin--odd experience, leaving team
James--odd man out, too good to cut?
Skov--from injury, over acheiver
Okoye--non-football player
Lloyd--does he beat out young guys now that the team has Johnson?

If half of the "if's" pan out, that would just be tremendous! We have that other quality CB too that should be ready for next year as well.

Hence, why I don't see him making this 53.
QB (2)- Kap, Gabbert
HB (4)- Gore, Hyde, Lattimore, James
FB (2)- Miller, Tukuafu
WR (6)- Crabtree, Boldin, Johnson, Patton, Ellington, Osgood
TE (3)- Davis, McDonald, Celek
OL (8)- Staley, Iupati, Kilgore, Boone, Davis, Looney, the Martins
DL (7)- Smith, Dorsey, McDonald, Williams, Carradine, TJE, Dial
OLB (4)- Smith, Brooks, Skuta, Lemonier
ILB (4)- Willis, Wilhoite, Borland, Moody
CB (5)- Brock, Cully, Cook, Johnson, Morris
S (3)- Reid, Bethea, Spillman
DB (1)- Ward
K (1)- Dawson
P (1)- Lee
ST (2)- Ventrone, Costanzo

if healthy, inactives would be M. Martin, Tukuafu, Ellington, TJE, Dial, D. Johnson, whoever's worse on special teams between Borland/Moody

*Bowman will replace Moody

PS (8)- Faulkner, Bykowski, Seymour, Jacobs, Okoye, Skov, Lynch, McCray/Campbell

Missing a LS.

Am curious if a lot of vets are in trouble this year. (Cox, Dobbs, Dahl, Lloyd)

2015- $1,525,559 over the cap, but we can carryover any unused cap room for 2015. Also mentioned that Kap can restructure, and free up between $9 and $11 million in cap room, plus Aldon Smith and Willis with new deals can free up good cap room.

2016- $46,266,973

2017- $76,451,923

2018- $121,821,247

2019- $146,725,000

^^^ Well done. Cox and Lloyd would be the only bigger surprises AB esp. Cox since he's playing the slot, outside AND taking KR's (plus has a lot of experience in our system and we play a ton of nickle). Lloyd, that one can go either way, no doubt.

Good list AB! James is nicked, so he may be on the pup--not sure how badly he injured his elbow with the dislocation. There are a few good players on your cut list but the depth necessitates this. Agree regarding Lloyd now that they have Johnson, who is impressing in early camp. So, unless there are injuries, Patton and Ellington should be locks over Lloyd.
AB, any guestimates of who we sign next and the cap ramifications going forward (other than the stated). Are we in good shape in the near/future?

He is not eligible for the PUP as he took snaps in Training Camp. Once a player practices during training camp all PUP list options are off the table.

Thanks! Didn't know that.

This is tough, I'm not sure if Crabs would sign an extension, sides are apart, not sure by how much. Nelson's new deal seems like the base for negotiations.

Dorsey and Cully could be possibilities. Iupati if the 49ers want to stick it to Boone(Who I don't see extended unless he reports soon). Maybe Vernon gets a few years added on, till like 2017 or 2018, could use him long term, team friendly deal, that has an easy out.

Others I just don't know. Not sure if they feel or see Ray McDonald as long term answer at DE, he is getting up there in age, and has injury concerns in past. Willis would be a good one, but I rather wait till 2015 and extend him and lower his 2015 salary. Same for Aldon.

Good stuff my man. I'm going to keep you on your toes after the next signing! Thanks again.

I would be pissed if Costanzo made the team over Moody. I do not think that will happen.

I think they brought in Costanzo to guage the progress made by Moody and Skov. But we want to get younger. Moody has so much more athleticism and versatility.

Other than that I would cut Dobbs for Cox. I know 7 CBs is a lot, but I think Cox is needed more than Dobbs. Plus Cox is good on ST/NB and as a return man.
