DB Dontae Johnson North Carolina State

Johnson actually leads our team in tackles. Thats usually not a very good sign when a corner is leading the team in tackles...

Weird game when you're the worst player on the team and score a pick-6

He's has the lousiest technique. He needs to turn around and make a play on the ball. All he does is face guard, that's why he's constantly getting flagged.

He seemed like a nice guy. Well spoken, but just don't think he's good enough to stick with the team next year. Hope he improve and stay in the NFL. But I think Niners can do better finding someone else.

I agree that he's probably good enough to make a roster, but we need an upgrade.
He's fine as depth but there's absolutely no way he should be starting. It's so infuriating because his penalties always come in bunches at the most inopportune times.
Sucks nuff said, don't even bother calling his agent
So he's got the 3rd most penalty yards and 6th most penalties overall in the NFL

Could he provide solid depth as a back up safety...maybe convert him, see if he's worth keeping for depth during camp / preseason

We're too thin at safety, especially if Reid leaves... Ward is not a safe safety to keep around

is he a free agent?

if so, why bother giving him a raise.. he sucks.. can't cover anyone.. and he's very clueless when the ball is on the air.. he should really go back to playing FS..

Or minimum wage ...

Since he can't look back at the ball and gets burned a lot, wouldn't it be easier if he made the transition. I only mentioned it because he played safety in college and we are not deep in that area (Reid maybe gone and Ward is not dependable).
This dude is complete trash. Easily the worst starting player on our defense last year. Can't wait to see what Saleh's defense can do with a decent secondary in place
