Wonder how his pass blocking is.
I've read that he's a pretty good blocker which is why many analyst believe he will see early PT. I just pray that this coaching staff stops their habit of pounding Gore into the ground this season. We now have 4 RBs that deserve PT and carries, Gore, Lattimore and Hyde fit our power running scheme and Hunter is a perfect "scat" back. I really hope we see FG, ML and CH almost evenly split the carries early in the year at least with Hunter sprinkled in.

That's an insult to Gore to even suggest they are similar.

why? comparisons are made all the time with young and vet players. Both are power runners, good vision/feet etc. You can't assume Hyde will be as great as Gore but it's not an insult to suggest he might.

Gore's on the way out. An all-time great but is longer the horse he used to be. This offense will be most effective if they reduce Gore's carries significantly from what they were last season and let Lattimore, Hyde and Hunter do their thing.

I need to see Hyde in action to compare him to Gore. Let's see how he handles the power O. Something outside of pistol. Also Gore seems to find small cracks in the front seven then gets skinny through the hole and then sets up the second level players to get chunks if yardage. He is north south but can cut back if the defense over pursues. Hyde had shown me most of this but I am not sure he gets skinny through the hole from the I form like Gore does. Very few backs I have seen with that type of vision and anticipation. Being that Hyde is bigger he might not have to do this. He can learn quite a bit from Gore

Why do we think Hyde will be different than any of the Big Ten backs that have come out the last decade or so?

There's a big difference between Dixon and Hyde. Hyde is a more polished RB who runs with his pads low, something Dixon just couldn't do. When you run with your pads down you are always moving forward for that extra yard. Lynch does this to perfect as does Frank Gore.

The other stuff though: vision, quick feet, and elusiveness are all there.
Yeah, I saw the same thing...squirts through a tiny hole, excellent balance esp. at contact, and then gets 20 yards out of a 2-yard hole. I believe they said he only had 3 TFL. That's a huge deal for us! Like Gore, he's always moving forward. He also seems to have the quickness, vision and speed to run OFF tackle which is THE biggest deal b/c that disallowes teams from stacking 8-10 in the box, between the tackles and just run blitzing (stuffing us for losses and pressuring CK with free runners if we chose to pass). People have no idea how big that will be for us.

How are player comparisons insulting? Nobody is saying he'll be better than Gore, just that his style/skill set is similar.
With that said, I think his running style is more comparable to Lynch or Lacy.

If Hyde can pass protect, have greater break away speed, does not fumble, and add the safety valve dump off person for Kaep. I don't know, he could be the new go to RB, I hope not in the immediate future as I want Gore to badly win the superbowl with us and all of his work for the 49ers is deserving of a superbowl ring. And Gore is a great person. It's so difficult in this topic.

Sorry but Lynch is in his own world.... in no way should people even compare the two especially on the college level. Lynch was a much more better runner in college, his strides through the lanes were a thing of beauty, but also violent. a lot more crafty & shiftiness as well.
Just saying from what i saw in college Hyde was not a Lynch type runner
