I just watched this game again after DVRing it during Niners dynasty week. Here's a few impressions I had after watching it again after all these years:
T.O. was an absolute beast during this game - only blemish was two late personal foul penalties that thankfully didn't cost us as the Giants Shaun Williams lost his cool twice and got ejected as T.O. got in his head
Jeff Garcia played an excellent game especially in the 2nd half during the amazing comeback
Eric Johnson played a great game catching everything and moving the chains a number of times for 1st downs
Secondary was absolutely torched the whole game especially A.Plummer who was owned by A.Toomer and J.Shockey
Overall such an amazing game with all the craziness in the final minutes and especially on the last play with the botched field goal snap (Trey Junkin) and illegal downfield receiver (OL) - wow so much fun to watch

I've watched this Game around 10x and all I got from it was HOW BAD the 49ers defense really was. Jeff Ulbrich was AWFUL, Ahmed Plummer was next to worthless, Mike Rump was not good at all. No pass rush, no runstoppers, no urgency until Late 3rd Quarter. I still cant belive the 49ers defense made Kerry Collins look that good because to me Collins was slightly above average at best.
Also TO was an absolute MONSTER. 49ers shoulda kept him.

Kerry Collins always played well against the 49ers for some reason. Panthers were a total PITA when they were in the NFCW.

A-lot of posts about this game in the "49ers Dynasty Week" thread

I almost purchased a Julian Peterson jersey at this time. Thought he was gonna be an All-Time 49er after he blanketed Tony Gonzalez

Yeah the entire D was so weak but somehow they made enough stops (plus the Giants special teams mistakes) to hold the Giants offense to minimal damage in the 2nd half.

i was at that game
by the 3rd quarter all the giants fans were getting up out of there seats and gloating. walking down the aisles high fiving each other. at the end of the game they were no where to be found.

This was one of my all time favorite 49er games ever. I'm glad they replayed it, since my previous recording of it was lost.
I generally prefer watching the complete games, but the "NFL's Greatest Games" episode about this game is a great watch too.
And yeah, our secondary was AWFUL. For whatever reason, my lasting memory of Jim Mora Jr. as our DC is how awful the secondary always seemed to be.

My buddy I was at the game with wanted to leave at halftime. I nearly beat the s**t out of him right then and there. I think I was rubbing it in his face at the end more than any of the giants fans, and he's a Niner fan too. lol

That's the signature moment of the game, imo.
