His philosophy has stayed consistent, very committed to power running and play-action passing, but he has shown a willingness to add wrinkles to the offense.

Harbaugh was exposed to the WCO in 2001 in Carolina, coached on a staff that ran a WCO with Oakland in 2002 & 2003 and predominately ran a traditional WCO at university of San Diego. He also heavily used a traditional WCO in his early years at Stanford, then Toby gerhart happened and the power run game took a very prominent position I his offense. However, his passing game has always been healiy influenced with WCO concepts.
Now, as far as passing to set up the run he really hasn't done this since the power run game at Stanford started being his predominant offense.
As far as this season, I really think the injuries on our OL has dictated our calls. The power run game hasn't been as effective as in the past and also we have trailed early in most of our recent games and it's put us in catch up mode needing to pass. I have a funny feeling when the line gets heathy we will see the power run game come back.

PASSING YARDS LOST TO PENALTIES UNDER HARBAUGH
If the penalties do not stop after the bye, this year could be the worst.

Correct. His brother John Harbaugh was a coach under Fat Andy, so both brothers actually have very deep West Coast Offensive roots.

Some of it could be due to rule changes. I.e. refs paying attention more to offensive pass interference. Either way it's bad and hopefully it will be eliminated. Those penalties are magnified if the team is not talented enough to overcome them.

Here are some numbers for our rushing game.
RUN STUFF %
A STUFFED RUN = RUSH ATTEMPT STOPPED AT OR BEHIND THE LOS
RUSHING YARDS PER ATTEMPT
Run Stuff % and Yards Per Rushing Attempt measure the efficiency of our rushing game.

Because Harbaugh has never drastically changed his game plans, at any level, regardless of available personnel.
At this point, the Niners are attempting an average of 33 passes a game compared to an average of 26 last season.
It's a change, but not much of a change.
I think it has. The extra 7 passes are probably worth about 50 to 60 extra yards of offense per game.

Down 14 points you pass. It was working BUT guys kept dropping balls, the turnover happened, the overthrow of Lloyd and the o lines spotty play made it not work. But I agree there's a lack of consistency in offensive identity. But we still run more than pass and aren't really using a WCO. My point is you can't put the lack if offensive production in the Denver game on coaching.

At least it's trending in the right direction, if memory serves me in our hey day we were converting in the high 40s-low 50s rate. So at lest we are approaching those numbers.
