Don't skimp on the breakdown. What I meant was to add more to the plays already mentioned in the previous thread as well as add more of your own . I really could have used your help while going over this game the first time through. I read your explanation as to how much this loss hurt. It hurt me to watch it again while breaking the game down, but when doing it from an objective view, it really helped me get over it.
It seemed like the 49ers tried to do the right thing in terms of attacking the SEA defense in the passing game. They were trying to horizontally stretch on the strong side by flooding the LB level zones. I believe this was done because they (49ers) knew Kap didn't have much time to throw. So there were a lot of simple curl routes being run adjacent to one another, trying to create the horizontal stretch. We saw a lot of 6-8 yard catches on curl routes. SEA did a good job rolling their coverage over to the strong side while playing straight up man on the backside WR. There were a lot of back shoulder throws to the WR that was isolated 1 on 1. The holding and grabbing you mentioned was very prevalent on the backside WR. It didn't matter who the CB was. If the CB was 'on an island' with that backside WR, it was clutch and grab time while coverage rolled to the opposite side. I feel the main point of failure was the OL as they didn't open holes for Frank or give time for Kap. We saw that pass rush dominate DEN in the SB as well.
