Its not a science, since they cant factor in who played hurt, or know exactly what a players designated assignment was on every play, etc, but its the best grading system out there to determine the total value of a player, taking in all factors. Major sports sites and writers use it, and even NFL agents use it as a reference for contract talks.
If you don't know what a players assignment was on a given play...how can you assume he should then receive a plus or minus for that play??

It's possible since he had the arm injury and he has a high salary and he is getting older. I wouldn't mind seeing a reduced salary to clear some more cap room. But you probably need his replacement before he is outright cut. Maybe in the draft or FA.
